Anyone want a new project?
I spotted this wrecked Cobra at Insurance Auto Auctions in Bay Point. The hood has been torn off, the rims and tires are missing, there's extensive damage to the left front fender, but it appears to have a complete drivetrain and interior. I'm not sure what that is sticking out of the passenger's seat. It could be a fuel cell. The pictures are from the only angle I could get from the chemical plant where I work. If anyone's interested, they auction cars on Tuesday, tomorrow. You need a dealer or salvage license to bid. I'd find someone to get me in and bid, but I've got too many projects already.
It's a sad end to someones dream. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/Img_1349.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/Img_1354.jpg |
It could be good for someone with the space and time to repair it. I doubt the HOA would allow me to put it in the carport........
|
Interesting... The doors don't look functional and there appears to be no cut-out for the right side sidepipe
|
on my pc screen i see the lines for a door, but is it ( was it ) operational or just indentations ? . also, could be a street version car w/o sc specs hence undercar exhaust and not side pipes . a sad ending indeed. Bill.

I wish I could get there. Unfortunately I am hosting a business dinner that night in Lodi CA.

The hood bumpers make me think its a spf......

Ed, I think you're right:
1. Top Picture - the color of the firewall and hood latch mate. 2. Bottom Picture - foam rubber hood rest positions, hood prop rod location and design, roll bar size, shape and location. With the gas tank sitting in the passenger seat and with the front end damage, I would get that this poor cobra got rear-ended, then got pushed into the rear-end of the car in front of it. Note how the trunk lid is not resting properly. |
And you can see the expansion tank on the front of the engine so maybe it's an FE. ???
|
Unfortunately, the angle the car is sitting on the lot makes it impossible for me to identify the engine. The doors appear non-functional in person, but , again, I'm looking from 100 feet away. The only way to get onto the property is to climb a 15 foot electric fence or show your dealer credentials.

I will make a nice project for someone. :)

It begs the question; if it had an sb100 before it was totaled does it keep it when its reregistared? i don't have a clue.

giveaway
Someone already figured out what it was, but the back side of the front fender flares, and the straight on profile shot showing the rear fenders and shape are pretty much a dead giveaway for me. :)

Thud,
I believe the SB # follows the car as it is associated with the VIN (should this one be so luck to have one assigned). |
I have some friends still in the Legislature. I have asked for a definitive answer on SB100 and the transfer of the #'s.

No need to call in any favors - it's all right here (next to last paragraph):http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/spcns.htm
