What have I got myself into?
I just purchase a yellow 500 attack Cobra.. licensed as a 67 Cobra with a 69 LE engine 30 over with hooker headers, cam, and what I believe is a 750 holley on a 70's model corvette frame with five speed transmission... Illinois licensed and now California licensed... does anyone know what "500 attack" means?

A local guy here had a similar type Cobra replia known as a "King Cobra" mfg built on a 1973 Corvette chassis, big block Chevy, auto trans, stock length Vette wheelbase, with the a longer body of course. It had the full front/rear Vette suspension. Even the pedals, steering/column, electrical, and all was all Vette donated. It was a pretty solid car - just a little different looking, handling, sounding. In his case, the major giveway that it was something different started out with White color interior. Run what ya brung! :D

If it carries the original Corvette VIN it should be registered as that years Corvette. If this is the case and the DMV realizes the mistake they will correct it one way or another and none of them are in your favor.

Hilarious12,
Need to post some photos with engine bay, side and trunk photos to help identify your new Toy. There have been several companies over the years and myself (Cobras N Vettes) that have used Vette running gear in various combinations. Xlr8or, Many states assign their state VIN after inspection so it would not make sense that the Vette VIN would represent or be assigned to this car. Although many parts from a donor/s are used it is no longer a Mustang, Vette or Tbird either. If a build was pure RE-body like some of the old Fiero cars turned into ????? can't remember -- mid engine --Need help here ? Although I have never done one I think they salvage/void old title and then re issue as what ever they are built to represent. |
