Ceramic coating exhaust
While at Auto-Rama, I stopped by the Perfect-It Booth. They are located in Rancho Cordova and I was wondering if anybody has experience with them. I'm considering them to ceramic coat my headers and side pipes. They said they've done about 30 sets of them so far.
Any help would be appreciated...or I guess I'll be the Guinea Pig!

Did they say what the charge for both headers and sidepipes would be?

Off the top of his head he quoted $500.00-$550.00 for everything or $300.00 for just the side pipes.

That is a pretty good price IMHO. Let us know how they turn out.... and how they hold up. When I had mine done I had to transport them to Santa Rosa. It would be nice to have a coater closer in the event something needs to be redone.

What are the details of putting on a ceramic coating? it is similar to a spray paint? or does it need to be cooked like powder coating? I looked at mine a it looks like it was spray painted, not a pretty as I thought it would be.

My sidepipes are ceramic coated and look great! I like chrome also, but I don't like when they start to change color after a while from the heat.

Yes. Had mine redone there in black coating. They do a lot of local work coating all sorts of different things, with a few larger ovens that seem to do a nice job of baking it on. DC

Hi Press,
Yeah, I've sent a few people over to him too. AIC did a nice job on the pipes on Chuck Fletcher's SPF after the muffler/sidepipe mod was complete. Perfect It it does a nice job on the black version, so I tried them too. Both do a decent job. :D

I just sent my sidepipes out to Jet-Hot today. I selected the Sterling 1800 finish. They are only charging $305 total which includes the return packaging and shipping. I'm sure the local guys do a great job, but you can't go wrong with Jet-Hot.

The main thing to look for when shipping, is damage during shipping, handling, and reuturn shipping. In fact, I recommend taking a few photos of your sidepipes and emailing them the day you ship out to show there are no dents. I'm not saying they damage stuff, and I've used Jet-Hot a few times in the past, but shippers can be very very unforgiving at times. Pack The Well when you ship delicate parts!
