Best DMV offices in Sacramento?

Hey dudes-
My car is running and driving, just got body and paint left before I get serious about registration. So I am wondering if anyone can recommend a DMV office in Sac that they have had good experience with as far as SPCN, and when the time comes SB100.

Thanks,
Justin

BTW, I have been driving my car around my neighborhood in go-kart form, what a blast! :)

Charmichael DMV

I had very good luck at the Charmichael DMV.

About 7:45am the manager (a very nice lady) came out and collected all of the SB100 applications and gave us numbers. At 8:00 when the doors opened, you just went to your window number and a nice DMV clerk was there with your paperwork, and the manager was already calling for numbers!:)

Got mine by 8:45! #SPCN 2007203.

Good luck!

If you are going for SPCNS only without SB100 (doing smog cert), you need to arrange for your Brake, Lamp, VIN verification inpsection certs too; same as SB100 route, but with smog. You might want to be be sure to confirm your car will pass smog/inspection first before setting the appointments for the other certs starting out. therwise, its a long wait till next Janurary for the SB100 route. Let us know how it goes if you go the smog route, I've not done a non-SB100 SPCNS car for a while, but it was easy in the past with former cars. It would be good to know if there are new hoops to jump through these days. DC

Justin,

It is great to hear that you have your car running!!!

Can't wait to see it.

Hey there Rodney! This thing is a hoot, even a little 302 is a ton of fun in such a light car. Can't wait to get it painted and legal.

Jdog,
I too have had good experiences with Carmichael DMV, so that is great to hear they are familiar with the SB100 process. I'll be there bright and early when the time comes on Jan 1.

DC,
I have been doing a ton of research on SPCN and SB100 lately, though I do not have any actual experience. It is my understanding that I can start the SPCN registration process, and cruise with temporary tags, and then do SB100 in January, then VIN, then Smog and brake and light, then get plates.

I won't want to start too early in the year, as the temp tags only last so long, and might only be renewed a few times.

Does this sound about right?

Thanks,
Justin

Justin,
Congrats on getting your car running. How sweet it is! :MECOOL:

I just did the whole process for my SB100 sequence number. First I got the reg started with DMV for SPCN, which costs me a small fortune, but got me in the DMV system. They offered me the TOP but I had no car at that point so I declined. They gave me some paperwork and said see you on Jan 2. Next was a cold night of camping at the Folsom DMV for the Jan 2 excitement. I would also recommend Folsom, they are a very knowledgable and fun group of people that work there. I know that "fun" and "DMV" is an oxymoron, but they were a super group of people to work with. They gave me my seq # and more paperwork. Then I made the appt with CHP, which is in Elk Grove, and all they did was look for my SPF # stamped on the frame and rivot a little badge on the firewall, gave me more paperwork, and sent me on my way. Then was the appt at BAR, which was a no brainer because I already had the sequence # in hand. BAR is over by Fry's Elec. The BAR put my pass sticker next the the CHP badge. They gave me MORE paperwork and I was back up to Folsom to turn it all in. To this day I have not received my plates, but it should be any day now.

What a process.... Since I don't have my plates yet, I can neither confirm or deny that any of this has worked.

Best of luck. Hope to see you on the road soon!
