The Historic Trans am cars are not to be missed. With out a doubt, with the exception of the Can Am cars, these are the best to see. For those of you who may be to young to have seen them (you must have at least a LITTLE gray in your hair), thirty 60's & 70's Mustangs, Camaros, Javelins banging fenders (not now) are not to be missed. When they are on static display they all have a placard on a stand telling all the history of the car. These are for the most part the REAL DEAL. Great show!

A little history: In Setember or October of 1967 there was a Trans am race (one time venue) sponsored to some extent by Gallo Winery called the "Gallo Cup". It was held on the grooved cement runways of the old Crows Landing Naval Station. It has since been used until recently for numerous Auto X's. The surface is so rough that the cars were getting 5-6 laps per set of tires. This was before tech is so involved as it is now but a fact that surface years later was that Penske's team with Mark Donahue driving teched one particular car (Blue Z28) and replaced it with an acid dipped & lightened car for the race. No body saw the switch.

Schedule for Historic Trans Am

We just made camping reservations at Infineion for the weekend. So we'll be there, sans Cobra. Give a look-see for us. We'll have shade (and maybe free beer for the Cobras -- maybe):D:cool:

Hi Kurt,

I’ll be there on Saturday morning sometime and would like to say hi to you guys. Be happy to discuss what’s developing with our new Cobra Roundup event.

Enjoyed your summer event(s) email and like how you guys keep the fun going.

Hope to see you on Saturday.

Talk soon, John

ps, sorry, I get Monster & Mr Monster confused, but hope to see many Bay Area & NorCal folks Saturday. ;)

I finally made contact with Marc Holmles of Infineon for Cobra parking. There are about 50 spaces available for Cobras. Follow signs for the 'Corrals' and at the top of the hill follow sign to 'Shelby Corral' make a right turn at the top of the hill and we should be directed to the 'Shelby' area. Sounds too simple. (Why am I so cynical?) :JEKYLHYDE

Hope to see everyone there. I will be there on Sunday in a small caravan with JPerickson 2001 (John). Leaving from Sac. Havent arranged ETA as of yet.

If anyone is interested in joining us. We have two Cobras and a GT 350 meeting in Folsom at 7:15 a.m Saturday morning.

We will meet at the Coffee Shop next to Chilis at Folsom Boulevard and Iron Point Road (sorry I can't remember the name).

We hope to leave for Infineon no later than 7:15-7:20.

Mike
