Just had breakfast, and Elaine made tons of sandwiches for the picnic.......we are going driving! If you have a Cobra you gotta be tuff! A&E
|
I'm still driving the Cobra though...... Tracy made stuff too..
|
Well, three of us showed up, talked for about 45 minutes.....I headed home.
|
Hi Pat,
Looks like most met at town center in EDH and changed to the backup plan. Was the weather ok up there? Maurice |
As Pat said 3 of us showed up at the park. Two cars from Penn Valley. We ate our picnic lunch and headed home. Hit a little rain but it was still a nicer drive than when it's 90 plus degrees. The only problem was driving through Auburn where you can't keep the speed up. That was about the only time we got a bit wet.

Our alone drive
Well after almost six hours in the Cobra, a picnic next to a waterfall, and total cleaning of the car from the sky, we are back home.
It is always such a pleasure seeing, and spending time with, our great Cobra friends. All of you mean so much to us. Till we ride again.............. if you can handle the weather. Alan & Elaine |
Ray, Pat:
Sorry we missed you guys. With the change of plans due to rain, people missed out. As you know, folks ended up going to Mels in Folsom after leaving El Dorado Hills. It was kinda funny..., as we were finishing up eating at Mels someone looked outside and realized it had been raining on all the cars for at least 5-10 minutes before anyone noticed. Some of us split and others had car covers. I needed to wash my car anyhow after it sitting for 5 months. :) Well it sounds like at least a few folks ended up having nice picnics. Catch ya next time. Duane |
Alan,
It got pretty dark and gloomy after you guys headed out from Mels. You did not get into any rain showers on your picnic drive? |
Well Duane, yes we did get wet. Only when we had stop lights did we really understand how much it rained at times................ A
|
Rain or not I had a nice time. It was good to see all you people again......:)

My name is Ray. A little over a year ago my wife started asking around about getting a Cobra for her husbands 55th birthday, yes I am a lucky SOB. Any way she found Vinces car through a long time friend of ours who is in Capitol City Auto Club with Vince. On Mothers day the 10th under the guise of a Mothers Day party Vince delivered the Cobra to our home. Don't you just hate it when you are the last to know you are really at your own surprise birthday party! Since she found the car so soon after beginning her search I got the car on my 54th, she was planning way ahead on this one! Needless to say I was speachless. **) I just found this website and stumbled across the reference to Vince and thought you might like to know where His car is! Now I need to look around a bit more to find out what you guys have going on and If it is okay with you I will try to attend an event. http://i628.photobucket.com/albums/u...n/CIMG0473.jpg |
Great story Ray! Welcome to our little NorCal forum. Vince brought the Cobra to the Bash over the years and its good to hear more fun is to be had with the car.
We get together typically every 3rd Saturday of the month except in bad weather months. Anywhere from 6-25 cars show up and sometimes we do drives. Various people meet each time and sometimes we do a yearly get-together. Many of us participated in WSCB over the years and some continue on at other events together. If you would like more information about the Western States Cobra Group and our upcoming Cobras On Highway1 get-together in September, feel free to send an email to wscg@comcast.net for more details, etc. Congratulations on the Birthday car. That's cool. :) |
Oh yeah, and Vince always bought all of us breakfast so please don't change the rules.............:LOL::LOL:

3rd Saturday, I guess we just check back here for the details? |
Yes, and you also have to put a sign on your door that says "NEW GUY" in bold letters behind the rookie stripes for a year to be a member. And do a BBQ at your house. And buy shots at the Purple Place for all the members. And,and, and .
|
Did vince always have the rookie stripes on this car?
|
Those are team stripes. Rookie stripes go on the back of the car so the world can tell you have no idea what to do yet...........:)

I guess you can tell I need the ones on the rear then. :o I like the look of the team stripes but being static cling they are getting a little rough around the edges so they might come off. Thanks for the info... lots to learn! **) |
