Cobras and Tomales Bay Sunday August 9th
Point Reyes Brunch Sunday August 9th
Thanks to Rus and Diane, we have a treat for everyone on August 9th. Please note we need RSVPs. Our next North Bay Cobra Club brunch will be at Nicks' Cove restaurant in Marshall. Nick's Cove is located on Highway 1 at 23240 Highway 1. The restaurant is about 4 miles north of the intersection of Highway 1 and the Marshall-Petaluma Road. (The Hog Island restaurant, not our destination, is at this intersection and is a well known landmark. ) Nick's Cove is a destination restaurant with guest cottages. Yes, of course they have BBQ oysters! If we have 15 or less, we will just order off the regular menu. If we can guarantee 16 or more, we would have a special room and a fixed price meal which should be very good. Check this link if you want more info about Nicks: http://nickscove.com/ Nick's Cove has valet parking (yeah, right !! :-) in front of the restaurant and they will reserve a number of spaces in front of the restaurant where we can park as a group. Nick's Cove opens for Sunday brunch at 11 AM which is the time reserved for our group. We will meet at the Cheese Factory in Petaluma at 10 AM. The Cheese Factory is on the Petaluma-Point Reyes Road about 1/2 mile west of the intersection with Novato Blvd. There is good parking at the Cheese Factory, restrooms and of course, great cheese for those interested. At 10:15 AM we will caravan from the Cheese Factory heading east on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Rd about 3/4 mile and then turn left (north) onto Hicks Valley Road. Hicks Valley Road is lightly used and quite interesting. After about 3 miles, Hicks Valley Road intersects the Marshall-Petaluma Rd. We turn left (west) and proceed for about 12 miles on a winding road that climbs up to a grand overview of Tomales Bay and then drops down the Marshall wall to its intersection with Highway 1. We then turn right (north) and travel up Highway 1 about four miles to Nick's Cove. Should take about 35 to 40 minutes for the trip from the Cheese Factory to Nick's Cove. Weather can be anything from sunny to foggy so be prepared. This should be a great cruise. Directions to Cheese Factory from the north:
Directions to Cheese Factory from the south: Several routes from Highway 101. Most interesting is Lucas Valley Rd.
