WA issued VINs - any particular sequence?
I've searched the forum and more broadly across the net, but I can't seem to find any information about WA issued VIN numbers.
Does the 8 digit number run to any particular sequence? ie: does a VIN that looks like WA8914xxxx break down to WA - Washington 89 - First year registered 14.... - Next VIN number in sequence? The car I'm looking at should be older than '89, so I hope that's not the case. When you had a VIN issued, did it have WA then 8 numbers? Thanks again for any assistance! |
Nope, the vin for my F5 is right off the frame and it starts with F5R100...

None of my 4 WA vehicles has WA in the VIN #. On my SPF GT40 they just used the SPF chassis #. My other 3 cars have a Federal VIN #, no WA and I can't make out any year reference in the VIN either.

Mine's the SPO number

Craig, they do issue the Wa. state ID tags on certain occasions. You will need to contact the Wa. state patrol vehicle inspection folks to figure out how they break down the numbers.

Craig,
My car is WA9418....... Well at first that didn't make sense but I'm afraid it just might. That coincides with when my car was first built so... BUT, my title says 1965 Cobra Conv. and that's what most states here recognize. I guess yours doesn't, that kinda sucks. Interesting post, let us know what you find out. Regards, Matt |
