Ordered placed today for MK4 complete kit :)

Placed my order today for a F5 MK4 complete kit.

They gave me a completion date of 11/3.

:)

Totally pumped!!

Special thanks to everyone at Doug's this past weekend for answering all my questions...over and over... :)

Excellent. The ones I've seen in real life have all been dynamite quality cars.

Stinson Pilot 10-03-2012 11:58 PM

Congrats! Look forward to following your build.

Maybe you can drive it over to my place next year!

Jake 10-04-2012 07:37 AM

That is very exciting! Congrats!

Jake

Are you gonna use three link, four link or IRS?

There are so many choices; big block, small block, or new Coyote, four speed or five, two roll bars or one.

Take lots of photos and HAVE FUN!

For the money (20K), the best kit out there! What type of engine are you planning? Mabe the 385 series? For about 10K in off the shelf parts( used engine included) you can drop a 460 cid in your MKIV pushing 700+ HP & 700+ TQ :JEKYLHYDE Of course you will have to beef up your other running gear just a wee bit! :D But @ 2,300lbs or less; what a MONSTER!:JEKYLHYDE:LOL: you would have!! But if you are concerned about you & your guest keeping dry :o pants! Just drop a sbf in, you'll still have a blast! ;) If you are interested in 385 series build spec's, let me know I'll drop you a list of parts to review. Just for fun !!

WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION  THERE IS NO CURE! :MECOOL:

Oh Yeah!

Congratulations on expecting a new baby and welcome to the club, lots of F5 guys around Puget Sound.

I second the recommendation to seriously investigate a Ford 385 series block mill build, it's very reliable, maintainable, and almost indstructable (yeah Jake). Even has it's own website: 460 Ford Forum

We'll all have PLENTY of recommendations (even without asking)

Rotor, you and I are practically neighbors, and I'd be happy to give you a demo. :D There is NOTHING like the sound of a Ford Big Block!

Congrats.

One thing about a Factory Five is you'll be intimate with every piece of your car from each rivet, nut and bolt to every spot on the body. Like Kevin said, there are plenty of F5 owners in the area. Post if you need help. If you haven't done so yet, check out www.ffcars.com.

Enjoy,

Bruce

I have a friend that is doing bodywork on a Mark2 and another that just got a Mark4. The Mark4 is a real improvement all the way around. I understand there have been problems with the left side header not fitting, won't match the body cut outs. A lot of guys are upset about it. Do you know if that has been resolved. That was the only issue that has kept me from ordering one for my next project.

Breeze has an adjustment wedge that may help. I have one on my MK3.1 and the pipe aligns with the body perfectly.

Thanks everyone.

My engine budget (yes ,I used the b word) is $5000. So I think a SBF is in my future.

Kevin, I would love to come by anytime, and actually, we used to be neighbors, I lived directly across the street! Ask me sometime about my x wife's nick name for you! And don't worry, it's not as bad as the one she had for me :D.

My completion date is 11/3 and Stewart transportation has been notified. Should take delivery by Thanksgiving :)

Looking forward to being in the group. I really enjoyed talking and listening to everyone down at Doug's.

Thanks again for the tips, and keep them coming.

Ps I will be looking into the Breeze wedge for the side pipe issue, should I end having the issue...

I too recently ordered a MKIV. I have a line on a DOVE-A block and a set of SCJ iron heads. I like the stroker options out there, and am a bit overwhelmed by all the cam/piston/crank/intake/carb/injection choices out there. Like 500+ HP and TQ #s on pump gas, single carb, and maybe a hyd roller setup. I'd love to have suggestions as to a good combo to get where I'd like to be. Thanks!
