OK, this may sound nuts

But is any one interested in going to the DV spring fling thing in June? Probably a 4k mile round trip, but it might be fun. I think it starts on Friday June 20th and it would take at least 3 days each way, but for some reason I'm tempted. Someone please bring me to my senses!%/

Bish,

Yes, you are absolutely nuts! ........for about a dozen really good reasons, most of which are the same reasons you were'nt supposed to buy that silly car to begin with;)............................................ .................................................. .....................Yea me too........Thats going to be too much fun to leave to amatuers....... " If I were twenty" ..........( thats what I said the last time I did something that foolish and had the time of my life)........................

......so twist my arm!

G.R.

And I guess you are driving the Cobra?

G.R. 03-03-2003 08:55 PM

yes, a very long road trip... car is going into the shop for a through going over, in May...I'm a better carpenter than I am a mechanic, but it sounds like an adventure and The Fling should be awesome.
We are planning on taking it easy, both ways....
no rush just take our time

Besides Other than Nebraska I've never seen the mid-West

Come on out!

Be great to have all of you here. I drove my Cobra from Pheonix home, 2000 miles. It is a long trip, but one that you will never forget. There are a number of people coming from the west coast. Come driving, some shipping, some in trailers. But there are also people considering shipping from the UK and Australia! Is that motivation?

See you in June!

Rick

Man that sounds like fun! When I still had the Excal I was considering shipping it to the west coast and driving it both ways!
Go for it!

Nuts? You want nuts? I've suggested to my wife that we take my Cobra up the Alcan to Alaska to see my folks. Even nuttier, I just *might* do it in a few years! Throw a couple of sleeping bags and a small tent in the trunk, grab the Ham radio (just in case), and head up north!

If you need a place to stop for the night near Kansas City, give me a holler.

HighPlainsDrifter 03-04-2003 01:37 PM

Go 4 it Bish !
I had a wish to cruise with 250 cobra's also. Just can't swing it this year.
I think it's closer to 5,000 miles for us NW guys , those new seats of yours would save your butt on that kind of trip.
Perry.

Bish Wheeler 03-04-2003 03:31 PM

I don't know Perry, 5000 miles in a week or ten days is probalby a bit more than I want to take on, new seats be damned! Heck, I'm not sure I want to drive that far in my Avalon.

Rick,

That's easy for you to say. You fall out of bed and you're there!:)

Bishmo...

Long about Grand Island, Nebraska the fantasy will have turned to a numb ass. Think long and hard my friend!

Bish,

Why would you want to inflict your bad weather juju on all those nice people?

5000 miles...no, I don't think so. Maybe if I had a top and month.

Rich

Gary and or Bish;

I travelled across the continental divide [Wyoming ] a few times.
You need to set your carb up to run at high altitude to cross 8,000 feet of mountain range cruise all day at 6,000 feet just east of the mountains, it's stunning being on top of the world but you carb will be running VERY RICH. I would go down 4 #'s leaner in the primaries and 6 #'s in the secondaies as a compromise to give some driveabillity everywhere you go. EG; if you have your holley jetted at 72 in the primaries- go to 68 jets. bring a few sets of jets and bowl gaskets along as spares, and a big stick, .... just a suggestion from someone who's been surrounded by 40 buffalo in Yellowstone park.:D
Perry.

Well guys, that sounds like a great trip. Is there plans for any other shorter trips planned for the northwest? I would love to meet some of the Washington guys! Jake
