Who is building what?

Who is building, remodifying, or just tinkering?

I plan to finish my Pacific Roadster this spring, it's being built as a "Street" version, no rollbar, sidepipes or stripes. With all the cold and wet weather the time off has been been good for getting it done.

Hey Scott, How do we know if we're buying American lumber?

Tongue Pirate 01-28-2004 08:18 AM

I'm building my FIA right now. Should get her first coat of paint this weekend:)

When it doesn't say product of Canada on it, Rich. The Candian imports have just creamed many of the small mills around here, mostly with studs marked Hem/Fir. With NAFTA it is tough to embargo Canada any more so I am just trying do my little part to influence consumers.

I'm building a CR. Now in the go-kart stage. Motor, drivetrain, suspension all done and driveable. Next step is body prep, mounting the body, then taking it off again to get painted.
460 BBF, C6 automatic, 3.27 rear end.

Michael Henry,

I just replaced my alt/bat leads on my Naf 289--being a past boater/cruiser I went to my West Marine store and used the Ancor tinned copper wiring--used their on-site tools and made up my connections up there also at no charge except for the fittings and the wire.
Ancor has less voltage/amp loss than most any other wire on the market for given gauge size. When I sold my sailboat I had several partial rolls of ancor wire in various colors and gauges that I kept as well as a kit of tinned Ancor fittings.
I have been replacing a lot of the old wiring on my '89 car using the Ancor wire, and some of my gauges, ie batt/ charge read truer now. Ancor wiring never failed me on a boat after rewiring.

I sold my SPF in early Nov and in late Dec bought this NAF--never did a thing mechanic wise to the SPF, just drove it. This one is a challenge since I've not messed with a car personally for years.
So far I've replaced the ignition with all MSD including distributor.
I have a early '67 289K code HI-PO engine/mild cam,Edlebrock performer manifold and Holley 4160/600 and T-5, 9' Ford solid axle. Just bought another '65 K code engine,cheap, runs but smokes bad. Going to send it to George Gessford in Neb and hope to have it rebuilt, if it is solid, with a Weber setup. And maybe a David Kee top-loader as well.

Next project in the immediate future is to change the rear drums to discs--oh joy I've never done this:p

Maybe this year I'll be able to meet up with you guys on a run somewhere--I missed out the last couple of years do to either injury or schedule conflicts.

Anyone going to the Seattle Roadster show next month?

In the midst of the house repairs and garage remodel I am putting a 2400 stall lockup converter and narrowing a nine inch plus putting disc rears and 4:11 gears on the car. In my spare time you understand.

Rich 01-31-2004 07:02 PM

Hey W2zero, cool car...very period looking. Do you drag race that thing?

W2zero 02-01-2004 03:26 AM

Rich
Yes, yes I do. Horribly slow so far with the 3:25 gears and stock converter though. Plus I discovered the electric choke had unplugged itself and rewarded me with a very consistent bunch of 15.40's. (lower lip stuck out) It sucked, but this year should prove to be a tad better.

Rich 02-01-2004 09:41 AM

Let us know when you're running.

W2zero 02-01-2004 03:38 PM

Sure, would be glad to have anyone witness my embarrassment. I can cut a perfect five-0 light nearly every time....too bad perfect is all zeroes.

I am getting real antsy for Bremerton to open. Have been trying for many moons to get Steve T. to take the blue car over there and run it for a lark. Maybe the last time we went in it was too scary. Almost bagged a buck on a curve......serious pucker marks on the seat covers I can tell you.

I do love the drags and this is the first time I have run a car. As a kid and later on my experience was always with someone else's car or working the gates way back when at Puyallup. It's too much fun to have by myself so do show up. Hell, run what you brung!

I am building an Factory Five Mark I Roadster. I recieved my kit in September 2001 and I should be mostly finished with it by the first part of April 2004. At one point I had a Kirkham body and planned on using it on my car, but it turned out to be to much of an exspence. I just finished removing the over sprayed lettering on my Good Year Blue Streaks and then I re-lettered them. I am in the process of installing Pin Drive and some small details to suit me. I hope to be able to meet with more of the local Shelby and Cobra enthusiast in the NW area.

My car specs;
* Supperformance Blue w/white Lamans stripes & red fender stripes.
* 351/385hp FMS Crate engine.
* Tremec 5 spd. w/Steeda shifter.
* Trigo's and Good Year Blue Streaks.
* Stewart & Warner gauges.
* Lukas Switches. I know! I know! problems just waiting to happen.
* Heated seats - you wouldn't no they were there to look at the car.
* Stereo and 12 Disc CD Changer - and you won't know they are there, it's 99% hidden.
* Soft Top and Hard Top.
