Cobra's 1st Christmas
Fellas - So this is my first winter with my baby. As I stare at it warm and dry in my locked/alarmed barn, I wonder is there anything I should be doing to winterize it? Fuel Stabilizer? Is running it once a week enough?
|
Fire it up at least once a week, let it it come to temp, blip the throttle a few times. Drive it on nice days, it ain't that cold here.
I found fuel stabilizer really messed up a Holley carbs tune when I used it in CO on my V-8 powered ski boat one year after storing the boat with a full tank over the winter. Ended up draining the tank and rebuilding the carb....it ran just great the day I put it up for the winter.

One other thing change the oil before putting it away, even if you just recently changed it, if you don't plan to drive it over the winter and check all your other lubes also and be sure they are topped off also

Do not get carried away with the throttle untill you have some oil temp showing. Cold oil will have the oil pump pushing almost everytihng out over the bypass not through the engine. I installed an electric heater into my oilpan just for the cold days .Short trips have as much preperation as lomg trips. The cold weather makes my eyes water.,and the coates make my belts realy tight.
