New 2007 Honda Goldwing
Hi,
My early retirement present is coming this week, the very 1st Metalic Blue Wing in BC, Nav system, cruise,ABS brakes,80 watt 6 speaker stereo, heated seats and grips, etc.:MECOOL: Perry, soon to be cruisin through the desert !:MECOOL: |
I love motorcycle threads, we don't get enough of 'em. :D
Cool ride! |
Perry: That is one good looking bike.
|
Perry,
You'll have to come down and make a bacon cheeseburger run to Smoky Joe's in Snoqualmie with Zderf & me. Heated seats? My Ducati has a warm seat from the exhaust running underneath it. Nav system? Holy crap. Edit: Nice bike Perry! |
Thanks Guys !
I knew there was a few bike guys around besides Zderf, KV and Patti, haven't heard from them in a long time.
Rich, Bev and I are Honda cruising the Oregon coast for a week end of July, could stop by Aug 4/5 on the way back ,if you guys are free give me an email sometime to plan a cruise. I told Bev it was a nice old man's cruiser bike, don't tell her it's as fast as a new vette with a 1800 flat six, aluminum backbone frame and single sided swing arm.   Perry. |
Did you also get the airbag system, I have owned a few wings, the last was a new Pearl White 93 Se.. great bikes, especially for long rides.. 1000's of mile types..
|
No Airbag
I did not get the airbag, I didn't like where they moved the audio controls to the left knee panel to make room for the air bag on the tank.
this is my 2nd wing and it's pretty comfy, my old back will love it. Perry.:MECOOL: |
Single sided swing arm? I'll have to check the latest specs on these bad boys.
|
I just can't bring myself to get another bike until I get my teenagers out of the house. I really don't know how I lived through my first go around with bikes.
So, to not even enter temptation into the possibilities, I stay away for now, (occasionally peaking at the BSA Triumph and Norton ads on eBay). I wouldn't/couldn't put my wife or myself through what my mother had to endure...... |
... well perhaps similiar to most motorcycles, Goldwings excluded. :D
I hear ya Bruce, amazing we lived through the teenage years tearing up the asphalt on two wheels. I ride dirt bikes still today, and have a street bike I ride EVERYDAY. So of course, my son wants a street bike. Oh what have I done! |
I had a wreck where an air bag would have kept me from flying over a car that pulled out in front of me and I landed in the middle of the road in front of on coming traffic, I did rip a big hole in his quarter panel and pulled his rear bumper around - a 1968 Fairlane I think.. of course they didn't come with air bags in the 60's.. I was told I was full of hot air by my Dad so many times I thought I could float like a butterfly and when I landed it felt like I was stung by a bee:LOL: I've had so many bike wrecks that I can't remember them all, probably cause I hit my head to many times.. never on a wing though.. some times I long for another bike especially a Triumph Speed Triple, it looks different than most bikes and has plenty of power. Anyway enjoy that wing as I don't think there is a better bike made in that class.

no comparison
You really can't compare my cobra to the Wing,but if you did;
the Wing is quicker to 60 mph. the Wing stops 30% better, 100% better in the rain. The Wing gets twice the gas mileage. the Wing has as much luggage room in the remote locking bags and trunk. the Wing has heated seats, so the wife is happy. The Wing is way more comfortable The Wing doesn't overheat. about the same fun factor the Cobra gets ALL the LOOKS. Both worth having ! Perry.:MECOOL: |
How much mpg does a Wing get?
|
mileage
Gas mileage depends on right wrist action of course, but just averaging 25 putting around and 35 or more on the electronic cruise control down the hwy.
I put a 2006 demo through it's paces last week, what a machine, the road was dry and cold on the freeway on ramp and lit up 2nd gear from 40 to 60 mph. there is absolutly no wind or buffeting for the driver on the freeway. The flat 6 is so smooth and torque 'e' it feels like a big block at mid revs.It pulls as hard at 3,000 as my 1100 sport bike did at 8,500. It's not a sport bike but it's nice to have the power on tap if you need it. Perry.;) |
Lots of hand controls
It'll take a while to get used to all the buttons on this Baby.

My '86 Aspencade was my favorite of my 5 bikes. You need to see the Goldwing airbag crash video.
