Looking For An Excuse

Hi Gang,
My new SPF2450 will finally be delivered to Grants Pass sometime around the 13th of April.

Since the weather is getting better, I'm looking for a reason to take a drive to meet up with some other Cobra owners.

I see lots of action in the WA area...Is there anything going on in May / June within a couple of hours of Grants Pass?

Since this is a brand new vehicle, I figure that my AAA will cover towing about 100 miles from home. ;)

Ivan,,,,,, I will be at my place in Creswell ( 8 miles so. of Eugene ) most of the next 4 or 5 months. I'm driving up tomorrow, but I won't take Cobra (Kmp218X) until next month. I'm taking hood, deck lid & doors for KMP241 with me to sand & polish...............Ron

You bet! I'll have duct tape, tire slime and hopefully will find a small compressor but good 'OL AAA has bailed me out before.

I hear you, I would never take my Austin Healey out for any distance without a tool chest stuffed in the trunk, congrats on your new sled.

Hi Ron,
I'll check with you next month and see what shape you're in...It'll be nice ride to Eugene. I think it'll be about a 2 hour cruise.

I'll send you a PM to see if the meet is still OK.

Thanks, Ivan

Ivan, I know there is a very active group of Cobra owners in the Portland area. You might want to try to get in touch with them. They would be much closer than the Puget Sound crew.

Hi Jake,
I plan on trying to hook up with some of the people North of Grants Pass, however, I'm going to keep a lookout to see if there are any active owners South of us such as around the Medford area. That's only 40 minutes from here. Portland is 3-4 hours away.

If I wasn't such a new owner, I'd try to form some sort of local group (If I knew how many Cobra owners were in this area)

Back in TN, we belonged to a couple of neat car clubs, however, several of us really liked taking all day cruises sometimes impromptu.

So we formed our own small group called The Kuldy Sak Cruisers. We ended up taking some terrific runs through the Smoky Mountains and even took on the Dragons Tail a couple of times.

Ivan:
Speaking for the Cascade Cobra Club, welcome to the insanity. As Jake mentioned we're based out of Portland and do most of our running around in the northwest part of the state although we do get down south on occasion. Namely to Medford for their annual event. This year we'll be sort of passing your way enroute to WSCB in Reno the middle of May.
You might want to touch base with Dick Calhoun in Jacksonville. He's quite active in the autocross circuit down in that neck of the woods and I understand his Cobra is something to watch wiggle it's way through the cones.
Send me a PM and I'll give you his email address.
