Front License Plates

How many owners in the Oregon/Washington area run with front plates?

Mine came with a plate holder, but I thought it looked ugly and took it off. Anyone get hassled much for not having the front plate on?

Supposed to have one in NY too. I didnt put mine on, I keep it in the trunk. Havnt been bothered so far. Most cops are in such awe of the car they dont even notice.

Have a good BS excuse in your back pocket if you get asked about it so you arent saying Um, uh, um.... to the cop.

It does ruin the look, I agree.

Here in Washington State, if you get collector plates, DMV only gives you a rear plate. So thats all I run on the Cobra. My F150 Lightning which I purchased new, never had a plate mounted so I have run with no front plate since 2002. I ran 5 years on my SVT Cobra with no front plate also. Have never been stopped yet.

The only time I ever had a problem was in a miata. The cop was aiming a lazer at me @ could'nt get a # back because of the shape of the car.I've never had one on my pickup or cobra & have been in the sights in these. The plates are covered with reflective coating and cops use them as targets.cobras with there big rads & any car or truck with big flat target area will not have much problem. But it is the law. If the guy wants to give you a ticket he can.

Same if you are registered as a 1965 and have the old plates. I keep a print-out of the DMV rules in my glove box in case I'm stopped by an un-enlightened officer.:D

I have been using a front plate bracket (stainless) for a couple of years now (front plates are required by law here in NYS). I ran without a front plate for several years, and was never pulled over for the missing plate.

I like the look of mine with the plate (kinda grows on you), and the car stands out when parked with other Cobras....

My front plate folds up in front of radiator and unless I let it down you dont know it is on. Best I can do.
