LEEAP Harley and Cobra trip
Here is a great chance to make a difference in the life of a young adult. I was talking with a few people about this program last summer and got a good response. This is a program that couples law enforcement with young adults that are having a tough time making good decisions and are at a cross roads in there life. This is not for the repeat offender that has been in and out of juvy for the last year or two. However without a little push in the right direction that is where they are headed. Deputy Board heads up this group and is offering to pay for all your gas and feed you lunch in exchange for a empty seat and some of your time. I plan on making this trip. If this sound interesting to you please give him a call. I have included his e-mail in this post. :):MECOOL::)
Jake Hi All, Once again, I am sorry to clog your email in boxes if you do not fall into one of the above categories and please accept my apologies. We at LEEAP are planning several group activities for the kids this summer, one of which is a group trip to Yakima via Chinook Pass and White Pass, with a stop at Miner Burger in Yakima for lunch on motorcycles and Cobras. I am asking for motorcycle riders that would be willing to ride a kid (Yes, Bruce, this includes motorcycles with side cars), as well as Cobra owners who would be willing to take a kid who does not wish to ride on the back of a motorcycle. Anyone with a motorcycle or Cobra is welcome to attend, so if you belong to a club, and know someone who might want to go along or willing to take a LEEAP kid, they are more than welcome. However, if they do not have a LEEAP kid as a passenger, I cannot pay for fuel or lunch. It is currently planned for August 23rd, which is a Saturday. I know it is early, but for planning purposes, I would like to know how many of you might be interested in helping out with this. This would be a volunteer event, and I cannot pay you for your time. I can guarantee you a great time and a lot of smiles from the kids. You all will make a lot of Junior High and High School kids very happy, and definitely give them something to talk about for a long time. LEEAP will pay for your fuel as well as lunch at Miner Burger. LEEAP does require permission slips for these kinds of events, and before any kid in taken, permission slips and release of liability forms will be signed by parents. Thanks, Ken Deputy Kenneth M. Did you already post this info Steve? Sorry if this is a repost, I did not see it anywhere. At worst we can call it a reminder.

Jake,
I titled it "Run to Yakima". Like you said, it doesn't hurt to remind folks. |
Steve, Jake,
I would love to be a part of this event. Count me in. Jim Ray said that if their were any single, blond, wayword women over 25 he will go also. He is all charity!!!!!! |
Looks like we are going to have good weather for this trip. How many Cobras are going on this? Deb and I are in.

I'm in just have to buy more sun screen.

Scott, looks like you put your post uder the wrong heading. The run this weekend is for the Chaplain run to Hood River.

The LEEAP run to Yakima went well. Jim (race-it) and I kept the passenger seats full as kids rotated to the Cobras at every stop. We had about a dozen bikes, one H-3 Hummer, one of the last C-6 Corvettes and our two Cobras. It seemed every time we stopped for fuel, lunch or get out and stretch breaks, the Cobras drew a crowd. Lots of photos taken and questions asked. The Corvette owner asked if this was normal and when we told him it was he looked at his very nice black/black Vette and shrugged. All and all it was a good day, plenty of sun on the east side and Jim remembering to cancel his turn signals.:D
