Record run
Hi Colin,
when are you bringing that Bad Boy here for a record run at 24' above sea level? Perry |
I don't know, still trying to get a healthy engine back into it. My changes over the winter paid dividends on the dyno last month. We got to 910 hp on just the engine, about 50 more than before.
The first pull with one nitrous stage added 355 hp and I was happy. I was sure we would find about 50 more hp before adding the second stage (set for 300 hp). Unfortunately we noticed my crankcase vacuum went away and there was more moisture in the vacuum pump than usual. A quick teardown showed a cracked cylinder wall that ended our day. I guess the old Bowtie block had reached her limit. I now have a new Dart Big M block and am reassembling. Dyno in two weeks and hopefully to the track in two more weeks. If I win the lottery I'll go to Run n Gun and have some fun. |
Good block
Colin,
Way to go, put that new block together and go to RG and kick some butt! Keep us posted, Perry |
Thanks Perry, It'll soon be back together and a little faster than ever before. I also bought a real converter this year that allowed me to change from 3.73 gears to 4.10's. Better 60's at one end and less converter slippage at the other end.
Unfortunately there's no time for Run n Gun this year. I changed careers last year and am too busy. I'm now in the world of investing and financial planning with Investors Group. Finally putting my degree to work after a 18 year detour into the family business. If you ever want to talk to me about it let me know. Enough of that, how are you? busy? How is your wife? |
Busy in retirement
Colin,
Lots going on with Grandpa of 3. Working hard on the Daytona while here as I spend a few months down in the AZ sun so have to get on it while I'm here. Doing alot of riding on my Goldwing also. Too Busy and have to find time to go to the track and watch the old funny cars next weekend. Perry. |
Wow, that is busy, but it also sounds fun and rewarding. Good for you. I look forward to those days.
I just finished loading the truck for the weekend. We are heading to the dyno Saturday. I hope we break our record for horsepower but I'll settle for not breaking anything. |
engine hp: 930
one stage N2O hp: 1338 two stage N2O hp: ????.........pistons hit heads and ring lands hurt, machinist decked too much off !!!!! Very frustrating, usually I make my own mistakes. I had another 300 hp in the second stage waiting for fun. |
NW run
Hi Perry,
I havn't been on the site for awhile. Are there any runs set up for this summer? Marshall |
Ouch !
Hey Colin,
that is bad luck, too bad the machinist didn't measure 2 times before cutting the deck. Hope he is bucking up and fixing it for you. With that much spray you'll need extra ring gap clearance unless you're using the gapless rings. That is a a great run on 1 stage ! 400 HP ! Just got back from Mission today, lots of quick stuff. 526 in an old truck with 4 stages of nos. 672 with 2 stages, ran in the 7.20's @ 180. Keep us up on your build. . Marshall, good to hear from you.Keeping the roadster rumbling? I've been out of the loop on the cobra runs, sold the roadster and am building a Daytona cobra coupe now. Lots of fun so far. Not sure about the other guys plans, maybe ask Fred or Jake. Perry. |
