Bad Day At Black Rock
It started out just fine, a good breakfast, the check book balanced, the cats didn't bring any gifts home and the work out went well. Early afternoon, I dusted the pollen off the Cobra and headed to Jim's (race-it) shop for a LOF. Piece of cake. Thanks again Jim for the help. As I was heading home on SR-7, at 40 mph. the hood flies off. Luckily no one was close behind me however before I could get turned around the hood was struck twice (glancing blows). I think it can be repaired, however matching the silver flake stripe may be a problem. The dash now contains a placard, in red, that simply states..HOOD PINS!
Anybody know a good fiberglass shop in the Seattle/Tacoma area.:CRY: |
Steve
What can I say? That is heart breaking. Fortunately nobody was hurt and the hood is salvagable. My luck, there would have been a convoy of 18 wheelers and everyone of them would have hit it. Good luck on the repairs. Jim (TOO) |
Man! What a bummer Steve.
Hope you can get it fixed OK. Ray |
Steve,
That would have made a great photo shot. At least no one was hurt. Well at least you can still drive it without the hood, Im glad your ok. Andy**):o**) |
Sorry to hear this.
Some lessons learned in life are expensive. Hope this is one of the cheaper ones. |
Steve, OUCH! Sorry to hear about the hood.

Can't count the times I've read about FFRs losing the hood because of those damn hood pins. I'd get the holes glassed over along with the other repairs and get rid of the things.

Maricopa,
The thought did enter my mind. A hood hinge is a good investment along with a riveted on hood scoop. |
Might as well while you're at it.
Bet that scared the bejezus out of you when it lifted off! |
