Maiden Voyage

Took my first drive today car not running great, so I didn't go far. I thought the timing was off. Larry Romanowski was kind enough to help me dig into it further.

Bent pushrod! Retrieved with the help of a set of Hitomi's chop sticks. (I think she was more mad I used them, than all the time I've spent on the car. - Just kidding)

Pulling the lifter tomorrow. Checking valve travel. cam lobe.

MIKE B - I'm catching up with your performance, (or lack of it) record.

Any input is welcome.

Theories, suggestions?

Most sequels are bad. Speed 2 for example - the out of control cruise ship.
This sequel, Maiden Voyage II, however, is much better than the original.

2 new pushrods and a visual inspection of all the round and round engine parts and I am back on the road. No one is certain why the pushrods failed. The best theory put forth was a backfire prior to break-in when the distributor was 180 off.

Today I drove all around - UNEVENTFULLY! The worst thing that happened is my fuel tank overflow worked properly at the gas pump and made a mess on their concrete.

After all the previous turmoil, I have to say it was pretty gratifying to get this far.

My son Wade got his first ride and asked when we are starting on his red Cobra with a white stripe. He said that way he can follow me to car shows. (Wade also wants a limosine to tote his friends around and a Mini Cooper for his everyday car. He's 3 &1/2 - we have time!)

Steve: Great news!!!!!!!!

At the pump you'll get the hang of when to shut off the pump.

Hope to see your yellow next to mine and hope there is a difference.

Jim
