A New Ohio Cobra Driver

Just finished a West Coast Cobra and will be licensed 8/16. Looking forward to getting out and seeing some of you.

Cleaning the side pipes looks like it will be a real job. Anyone have a suggestion?

Several pictures are posted in the gallery!

Didn't Make the Picnic

I was able to make the picnic because I just got inspected and licensed today. Looking forward to meeting others at upcoming events.

I am not comfortable driving to far yet, my maiden voyage was to Troy for the inspection, 75 miles one way. Alternator was not working so the battery was dead by the time I got to the inspection. I picked up a new battery to get through the inspection and back home. I am not sure the alternator is wired correct. Can anyone tell me I have a three wire Proform alternator, does the ground wire go to the (F) field post or the STA post? Everything else seemed good.

Motor temp ran about 195 on the highway and 225 in town traffic. Is this about normal?

I am going to do some local driving until I am sure everything is okay. I have a McCloud throwout bearing and that scares me. I know a lot of people have had trouble with the ones with banjo fittings. Mine was installed and in the car by the time I found out about these problems. I did put a clutch pedal stop in so I hope that takes care of the problem.

HI JEFFW,
Welcome, sorry you couldn't make the picnic.
WE hope to have a " FALL CRUSE ". Watch your e-mail from Roderman.
Larry Adams has a FF5 and lives around Lima.

OK, now I am confused! WHO is doing the fall cruise this year?

Alternator. Phew! It has been awhile. If I remember correctly an internally regulated three wire alternator has the battery and stator connected directly to the battery and the field connected to the battery via the warning light. Ground is through the case. Call proform or post in Shop Talk to be sure.

Temps, not bad. Perhaps a bit high. What thermostat, radiator, coolant and fans are you running?

LOTS of information here about the throwout bearing and how to properly set one up. Those who have taken the time seem to have no trouble with them.

It is never a bad idea to get some shake down miles. It is also never a bad idea to get AAA Plus!

Rick

You guys with those 514's are nuts. I just might have to get one.

Delphos is located in Northwest Ohio near Lima.

My alternator problem is fixed. I took the alternator apart and found the brush wire to the field connection was broken during assembly. I soldered the wire back on and it is now working properly.

The Chrome Alternator was purchased from Summit. Everything else seems to be okay at this time, more miles will tell.
