Olthoff @ Nelson Ledges

Car and Driver's " One Lap of America" competition arrives at Nelson Ledges This Friday 5/6.

Dennis Olthoff is competing in his newly prepared SPF coupe:

It looks like things get kicked off at 9:00am. The weather is going to be beautiful!!! So I think it is likely that I will drive up in the Cobra. (I won't decide for sure until 5:00 AM)

It would be nice to see a good turnout of Cobras there for support!

They are hanging in there so far at around sixth overall. Looks like a "slightly modified" version of the Brock Coupe. Bet there's no dual plane intake under that hood!;)

Man!! Nelson Ledges has changed a bunch from the 'dirtball ledges' days ;)

Would love to go but up to my eyeballs!

You Betcha!
Here is a letter sent to the SPF group from Mike Stenhouse...it has more info:

"After several very successful forays into the One Lap of America,
Superformance has been quiet for a few years. No more. Dennis Olthoff has
put together a killer Coupe to challenge the best of the best. His big bore
412 CID small-block is pumping out 680+ horsepower. The Coupe is capable of
running in the 10's and the mid 130's in the quarter on street tires (!).
Top speed is an rpm limited (!!) 210 mph.

There are 93 entries this year and the Coupe is seeded 4th. So the
organizers see the potential. No more Vintage American class as in years
past. We are running with the big boys now - SSGT1 Big Bore. Six of the top
ten seeds are in this class, so the competition will be tough.

Dennis and the team at Olthoff Racing have been working long days to put
this effort together and is past is prologue, they will represent all of us
very well indeed. This is a show worth seeing and being a part of. We are
asking all who can to show up at the event in your area and offer Dennis
your support during the event. The event summary is below with dates and
times (military times). Links are given for each track in case you need
directions.

Specific information on One Lap is carried on the One Lap web site
www.OneLapOfAmerica.com Check there for more information. In particular,
check the schedule as they do change sometimes. If you want some history of
the One Lap and our role in it, see www.SecondStrike.com under Second Strike"

Hey Rob,

Great to see you and I appreciate the lunch.
Your air deflector design is neat. Do you have a model for FF5?
I would post my pics but don't have the capability.

What a beautiful day!! Brilliant sunshine and tons of cool cars. 2 coupes (SPF and a FF5)...a very fast GT-40 and others.

Jack is was great to spend the day with you!! Rod and Paula Allen joined us mid-morning....great people as well!

I took several photos and got a small vidio clip of the GT-40 from turn1-2. I'll try to post it when I get to work on monday...my home connection is too slow.

Jack, There are some pics of the Roll-bar mounted wind deflector in my gallery...click the camera image next to my name. Also, you have mail.

What's with the Dodge ram 1500 pick-up that came in fourth, that spanked just about everbody, even Oltoff ?

It's a tube-framed race truck with a $60k engine and $18k transmission. Check out secondstrike.com for the One Lap update and it will give you all the details...

I may enter my Dodge Ram HEMI and blow-off Oltoff and the gang. Although, he may get me in the corners. Boy is that
embarrassing, a pick-up truck coming in fourth place ahead of
all those super cars.
