Thank you London Ohio!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you all know, for six years now the city of London Ohio has played host to all of us. They have taken care of police, EMT, fire department, electricity, facilities and equipment. They have opened there hearts and city to us and have constantly shown us hospitality above and beyond the call of duty. Just ask the city you live in if you can drag race at 100 MPH on city streets and see what they say!

What you may not know is that London has done this for us at NO charge! Not one red cent do they ask for. And for all they do, I know we are all grateful.
Last year and idea surfaced on coming up with a way to say 'Thank You' to the people and city of London Ohio. And, during a conversation with the Chief of Police during LCS '05, a way to do just that surfaced. London, like most small towns is strapped for cash. The city has grown to the point where they have a need that they can not afford to fulfill. In order to reduce response time and improve community service and safety, the city of London needs a police motorcycle. So, we bought them one!

The Ohio Cobra Club has purchased this Harley Davidson Road King, police edition, motorcycle to give to the city of London for all their hard work and support! The bike is gently used 2002 model purchased from America's oldest Harley Davidson dealer, A.D.Farrow Co, The bike has been given the complete once over and will very shortly be painted just for London. The plan is that the bike will lead the Cobras into London in '06 and we will present it to them as a gift of thanks.

This gift is not just from the Ohio Cobra Club, it is from all of us that have enjoyed the hospitality of London and her people. If you to would like to say 'Thanks' to the city of London Ohio, please make a donation.

Front page of the Madison Press!

I have the article! I can't put it in here very nicely so sorry about that! It is on the front page of the news paper in their 2/9 edition. Even though they keep saying my name, it is really Bill Dyer that put the deal together. With the help and approval of many sure but Bill found the bike and made the arrangements.

Notice they call us the London Cobra Club? Ohio Cobra Club!

The article is titled:

"Harley Davidson to Join police department"

Under that there is a picture of the bike with the following caption:

"This 2002 model Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle has been
donated to the London Police Department by the London Cobra Club.
It will be repainted and fitted with additional lights and radio."

Then the article:

Already in service on the London Police
Department are that famous pair: Smith &
Wesson. In the near future the London
Police Department will be joined by another
famous pair: Harley-Davidson.
A 2002 Harley-Davidson Road King
Police Special has been donated to the
London Police Department by the London
Cobra Club.
“It was something the police department
needed,” said Rick Dorman, president and
spokesman for the London Cobra Club.
Dorman said during the London Cobra
Show last June, the club learned of the
department’s need through conversations
with now-retired police chief, Michael
Creamer.
Safety-service director Steve Hume said
“excitement” was the word of the day when
word of the donation
was shared with the

Department.Dorman said they

Davidson dealer in
Columbus. Recently the
dealer had taken in a
“gently used” ’02 model
Road King.
“It fell in our laps,” Dorman said of the
motorcycle.
The husky two-wheeler will be fitted
with law enforcement equipment, including
lights, a radio and radar device. It will be
given a fresh coat of paint in London Police
Department colors and bear the city’s logo.
Steve Hume, safety-service director for
city of London said, “It will be
used for parades and traffic
enforcement.”
He anticipates some savings
in fuel usage by the department.
“It should get double the gas
mileage of a cruiser,” Hume said.
The London Cobra Club is
requesting donations to help it
cover the cost of the motorcycle,
around $13,000. Dorman said
whatever amount remains following
the collection of donations,
the club will cover.
The motorcycle will be used
to lead the Cobra parade
Saturday, June 24, then it will be
turned over to the London Police
Department. To contact Dorman
