Metallic Stripes?

Hello all,

Well, the time has FINALLY come to paint my car. My painter came up with a metallic blue that is perfect. It is a variation of a Mercedes blue except it is darker with more metal. I want him to use Ford Performance White for the rally stripes. He then asked me if I wanted the white to be metallic. Therein lies the problem. I honestly don't have a clue. Will the white look dull without the metal, or too gaudy with it? What are your opinions and what have you learned with your projects when it came down to deciding whether to use metallic paint for the stripes or no.
Thanks,
steve

No opinion either way except to mention that the stripes should be painted first, then the rest of the car. This way, there will be no ridge at the color parting lines.

I have the bright white stripes on my blue Cobra...I dont think it needs metallic in the white.

Would "Pearl" be metallic white?

Stripes cause the visual effect of narrowing and lengthening the car. They also blur the beautiful shape of the Cobra, one of the all-time great bodies.
Leave off the stripes, your car will be all the more exceptional.

Thanks guys for taking the time to share your advice. Ken, I know what you are saying about leaving the stripes off. However, this car has been in my minds eye for over thirty years, and it has always had stripes.;) I guess the white without the metal will work okay.

stripes

too gaudy with it? White stripe, no metal flakes in the white

I may have a picture of the color you descripted, with white stripe. I'll check my files

I found a picture but it does not show the metallic very well. I think this is a 97 Pontiac blue color. Ford white.

If you want a white that stands out, try a paint with lots of titanium in it. Personally, I prefer pearl white for stripes, but prefer the Cobra without stripes. Ken and I agree. Leave the stripes off.

If you gotta have em, you gotta have em !
Pearl white stripes are striking , not gaudy.
