A question I haven't seen asked before

On those Cobra's with radios, where is the speaker/speakers located?
Yes its late, I'm tired, and now I have to know. I probably won't be able to sleep now!

Radio was a generic Motorola aftermarket piece with a custom dial faceplate.

The speaker was contained within the radio, facing downward

Front speakers are under the dash and the rears are to the left and right of the seats -- through the carpet.

:D

Thanks Computer Works!

RedBarchetta, quality Hi-Fi indeed!

Tru, agreed that the best speakers are those mounted on either side of the car, of course with that massive amp mounted in the front of the car.;)

the only sound track you need is produced in the engine bay, speakers are mounted outboard, just in front of the rear wheels :3DSMILE::D

I like the custom dial face plate ... AM with high fidelity speaker no doubt & all transistor! ... guess there was no room for tubes in that baby

The antenna was on the rear deck, behind the passenger seat. Antenna would totally retract into the base...and had a little removable key to pull it up from the retracted position.

Works, check out 3240...antenna is mounted on the passenger side in front/side of the windshield...could have been an after market install but none the less thats where it is mounted.

CSX3240 radio is aftermarket, not Cobra radio. Not a standard install.

Aside, 3240 is a great originality specimen.

Gumball rally car had it in the back.

Regarding leaf spring cars, depends on who mounted it I suppose. CSX2310 has a factory installed radio. Here's the antenna on the rear of the car near the boot lid. This is the most common antenna that I have seen in factory installations but there is another very similar. There are also more than one version of "COBRA" marked radio and knobs. The only marking on the mast in the boot compartment is "PMD" which some of us guess might mean 'Pontiac Motor Division'.

If you go to my gallery , I have two shots taken at Savannah back in 1969( date code on the film ... could have been taken earlier ) that show an infield shot of a blue Cobra with wire wheels and an antenna on the RR . One of the shots is a little washed out , but the other is fairly clear . Friend of mine took these when he lived in Savannah and went to the track regularly .
