the push function is realised by a additional push kontact switch(like old cord switches on household lamps) and screwed in from befind into the Wiper switch. So the push funktion itself is a "add on".

I will check if both of my partnumbers have the same internal circuits.

For the footbox ventilation i thought about "lookalike" hardware with dummy cable visible in the engine bay but having small blower motors inside the venting tubes to increase airflow. These motors are switched on by a pull style alfa romeo switch. The fluted standard knob for the wiper, engraved by a friend with "Push" or "Pull", fits on the hex shaft of the alfa switch.

It will look old with modern internals,

Thanks for the switch pics Uwe. I can't get on the German site so I could not see the other pictures.

I like your ideas: the first being "budget" and second, a look-a-like.

Your switches came out great and would like to find a supplier where I can get them blank. I can get them engraved here in the US if I need to.

Thanks again for the info. If you can get some pictures of your air vent assembly,. switch, and cable, it would help.

Hi Westcott,
Ive got myself a P6 wiper switch and wondered if you could help with the wiring. Ive put a multimeter across the terminals and come up with the following...

switching in a clockwise direction
POSITION FUNCTION TERMINALS
1 Intermittent ??? 3 + 5
2 OFF 4 + 5 + 6
3 SLOW 1 + 3 + 4
4 FAST 2 + 3

Would this work like this???
TERMINAL FUNCTION
1 SLOW
2 FAST
3 LIVE
4 EARTH
5 DELAY
6 PARK

I doubt my terminal interpretation is correct as I've sen other switches that have some pins always connected. Any clue you could give would be much appreciated.

i'm in the middle of part collecting for my FE rebuilt, sorry...

The wiper motor i used is the same as shown on this page from Anthony Staffords shop:

For the positions of the switch i will check it until monday next week.

For what it's worth,,, the switch, whatever one, actually switches "ground". At least it's that way on mine. The "hot" side is always on and goes directly to the wiper motor, so your "making a connection" to "ground" when the switch closes any wire to the ground wire terminal on the switch. That means you may or may not be able to actually find any voltage present at the switch with your volt meter.

Finally got one of the 54033632/39156 switches for my Lucas 14w wiper motor also. Now I need to confirm the wiring to the switch. Any help will be great.

@Fraz,

the rover switch positions turned clockwise are:

OFF Connects: 3+5, 1+6
Interm. 4+5+6
Slow 3+4+1
Fast 3+2

That means:

OFF: connected from 3 to 5, motor connection for park position, switched off by the breaker switch in park position

Interm: don't now what kind of relais do you want to use

Slow: connected from 3 to 4, motor connection for low speed

Fast: connected from 3 to 2, motor connection for high speed

Pushing the fluted knob activates the screwed in washer switch, so you can switch ground or power independend from the normal wiper switch connections to drive the washer pump.

@All,
the 2 numbers i posted for " alternative" switches are wrong. I checked all my switches at home and found out that i collected the switches just to get washer switch spares. The 35796 and 39195 are 2-speed switches but will not work with our common wiper motor. Used with the cobra wiper motor they are just 1-speeds because:

35796 internal connections turned clockwise are:
0. 1+2+3
1. 1+2+4
2. no connection
So the switch could be used counterclockwise to drive a conventionel setup not "british" wired

39195 internal connections turned clockwise are:
0. 2+3
1. 2+4
2. 1+4

thanks for the update. Would you be able to elaberate on your connections. Do you use all off the connectors? As in the 'slow' position what does 1 do/what do you have 1 connected to?

I'm pretty sure that position 1 on the P6 switch is Delay/Intermittent. Ill attach 2 pics showing it on the original and from a parts catalogue. I Intend to use the wiper delay from a Sierra. I think the P6 had a mechanical delay from a vacuum source.

Unfortunately the 39156 switch I just got in the mail has only 3 terminals, so to use it, I will not be able to hook up the park function I guess. Any Ideas??

The switch has 3 terminals ( 2 of the terminals have double studs).

39156 requires a relay circuit to park the MG/Triumph wiper motor. (Included in the ERA kit, of course...) There have been some schematic diagrams to fabricate one posted elsewhere.

The original wiper switch is Lucas part number 34374A model number PRS7 and the wiper motor is Lucas 75311F and the model number is DR3 this motor has 6 leads,I have Lucas model and part numbers for all the electrical parts on a cobra. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like some of the info in this thread may not be correct. Regardless, I am using the Lucas 14w 2 speed motor and either the toggle switch or the rotating switch. I got the toggle switch to work-parks and all with no relays. But wanted to use the fluted knob for originality. It I can get it to park great, if not the so what.

I have seen it work with wiring diagrams that use a relay and the 39156 switch, just can't find them again.

Thanks for the part numbers-that's a big help.
