That is cheap. I'mnot sure about 10K, but I think 428street paid around $6K for his set.

Sunburst Wheels
First question, I tried to start new post or thread, but could not find out how to do it! Could some one tell me how?
Here is my Sunburst question.
Do these wheels have porosity problems that increase with age and what do you look for when buying these wheels used. Were any made in aluminium?

This design of wheel was only cast in aluminum as O.E.. I have seen originals that required the use of a tube because of porosity from day one. (Ditto 1966 GT350 optional aluminum wheels.) There have been copies made in aluminum and some type magnesium alloy over the years. The wheels offered in the auction look somewhat odd and created a buzz of e-mail traffic among 427 Cobra owners. Look at the center hubs. The machining appears in the pictures to be quite a bit off center of something. Just don't look right.

Fast 4...I'm not a Sunburst expert although I do have a set. They are very porous which I think adds to the "patina"...I did on advice from others paint the inside strip with epoxy paint to "be safe". I've had them mounted for 3 years now with no issues. They really make the car in my opinion if you like the Street look...
Dan - I did check the wheels out and the first thing I noticed was that something did look off...someone bought them...

Several owners of original cars compared to theirs and all agreed something was not right, the camera angle is not that large.

No, it was a lathe cut type surface.

I like the design better on cars they weren't made for, Cobras (leaf spring cars) especially with stock fenders. I considered using some on a Cobra and even did some test fitting but these things are heavy so I decided against them.

There have been a couple of people in the last 3-5 years that have attempted to remake these wheel that I know of. At the end of the day I just don't think there is any market for the price that it takes to make them in quantity. IMHO.
