He gave us Lil Cousin and 2nd Cousin. I can't help but wonder if, but for his untimely passing, he may have been working on an ugly, red-haired stepchild?

I took pics of Dick's car in Feb 2000 when it was in Lynn's shop.

What surprised me that he didn't have racing seats to keep his bum in place, nor aluminum heads for better performance (I am pretty certain that those were not black painted ally heads), yet a small diameter air filter which is said to be so detrimental for power.

Are you referring to his original 427 SC Cobra or his replica FFR? He ran his original mostly in stock form the times I saw him run it.

The air cleaner came off when 198 was driven in anger.

The real (red) CSX 3035!
I was allowed to touch it, while Lynn tried to get my attention for a Kirkham :-)

The new FFR model is a tribute to Dick Smiths original???

I remember reading that they were going to try to make an exact copy of it and offer it as a special addition, but i thought the project failed or was scraped because their frame was just too dimensionally different to make the shape of an original fit.

Funny that as I re-read this it was nearly 2 years ago and now Bruce is dropping a 289 onto my MkIV frame...

My understanding is that after scanning dicks car they realized how out of wack it was from repairs so they broke out the contemporary molds and used them for a majority of the new body design
