Rear brakes splitter/pressure switch 289

Anyone know what car shared the rear brake splitter that divided the rear brake line that included the psi switch?
Thanks

Safety Warning

Jeff,
CSX2201 and later Cobras used a Ford switch. If you use a Ford design switch get an early original new old stock or a modern replacement. Avoid the mid 1960s Ford service parts. I can't recall the details of what supplier and specific markings anymore but my parents had a Lincoln that used that design switch threaded into the end of the master cylinder. There was a Ford TSB issued to cover the problem. Switches made by one supplier were being found that could have profound failure under heavy braking. The dark brown plastic center would fail and the system could lose most or all of its hydraulic pressure. My parent's car had the center section of two pop out under heavy braking before the dealer got a switch made after the switch manufacturing issue was corrected installed. My mother stopped that monster once while going down a hill in heavy traffic by jamming it into reverse at about 45 mph. It was a bad ride while it lasted but she didn't clobber anybody. Ford repaired the transmission and brakes under warrantee.

Dan

You are a wealth of information. Thank you very much.
Would you have any pictures of the part on your car?

Jeff,
Your welcome. Cars are not the safest things to play with in the first place so any chance to cut risk free is a good idea.

I don't recall taking a picture of the switch mount.

Pressure switch

Hey Jeff, I have the complete stainless brake line set from Inline Tube and all the fittings are exact duplicates of the original parts. I had big trouble finding the correct pressure switch to fit the threads in the brass 4 way connector.

I have two or three extras here, you can have them if you still need the part.

regards, karl

The unrestored 427 Cobra I worked on long ago used a Lucas switch and didn't require any adapter. A friend with a European Cobra says his car uses the Lucas switch without an adapter either. CSX2201/CSX25489 USA specification Cobras with the Ford switch require and adapter to get from the female British BSP threads of the brass line junction fitting to the male American NPT threads of the switch.
