good enough for CSX3002, good enough for me.
Hopefully the pms and voices in my head shouting 'Black' will stop soon. I see the man plugging bathrooms (King DE?) has had his post deleted. good work  |
Any 428 would be blue as they started in 1966 when the color went to corporate blue. I would question 3002 being originally blue with a 427.
|
I can't say for sure that 3002's block was blue in 65 because I was only 1 y/o and wasn't into Cobras at that time. I suppose it may have been repainted at some point but I wouldn't think anyone would change the block color on a particularly significant Cobra, as 3002 is.

One cannot draw inference with the way a Comp car looks today, 45 years later. ;) Photos of the original engine in 3002 shows a black block, which fits the timeline. Quote:

You know, maybe someone with an "in" should ask Carrol himself while we still can. He would most likely recall things like engine color.

In this case, though, the answer is clear. |
Hey Ron, what color did you (or George) use on your block???

I consulted the Bible according to Sir Trevor.
page 136, first verse: 'Example of the 427 engine with four twin choke IDA webers....' Its blue. But he doesnt say which year. No matter, Im still going blue. **)**)**) |
