Body sketch/rendering

Hi folks, I'd like to play with paint scheme's and I'm wondering if anyone out there has created a sketch or template for developing renderings of their car. Is there a better way to realize what's in my head paint-wise? Maybe something with GIMP? Thanks in advance.

You could try buying a few cheap models and just start painting away.

Thanks for the quick reply tcrist, that is sort of my plan. I have a model that I'm putting together. I was hoping to find a CAD model or paper template with views to play with before I go to town with the airbrush.

There is a dollar store here in town that has a bunch of already assembled 1/32 scale models. All sorts of different colors. Maybe there is one in Reno that has the same thing.

Mike, I have templates layered and loaded in Illustrator and Photoshop that can be manipulated to render just about any color and custom Cobra configuration you can imagine. Browse through my gallery if you like, to see some examples.

Thanks for all the responses. Nice renderings in your gallery Buzz. When I get home tonight I'll see what I can do with these resources.

Using the 3D model from Google Sketch Up, I created the attached file with a bunch of different views. I figure I can draw on these outlines to develop paint scheme. If nothing else I guess it would be something fun for the kiddies to color on. :)

That'll beat the heck out of the stuff I had to color in when I was a kid . When you narrow it down to two or three paint schemes and you want to see what they would actually look like on the car I can render them for you on templates like the car in the pics below. It literally takes seconds to change the body color, stripes, pipes, roll bar etc. No cost or anything - it's already set up and ready to go. Fancy backgrounds and Natasha not included, of course.

Do you have an FIA rendering like that Buzz? Is that based on your car? Do you just start with a regular photo or from scratch?

Ozgur_Tan 06-17-2011 12:55 PM

Buzz,
Can I have your Illustrator and Photoshop templates ?
If possible ones with interior view

Ozgur
