Original Batteries
Good day everyone. I’m sorry if I’m a little lost here, this is my first post on this site. I’ve been hanging around the FFCars site for a while, and was directed to ask this question here for more information. I am trying to find information on the original batteries used behind the passenger seat. I’m looking for information on where to get them (if anyone still makes them), how Long, Tall, and Wide are they?

I have one that is a brand new repo, and I have no use for it, would be happy to sell it to you.

Yes sir, those are the ones I'm looking for. I just need to know where to get them and their size so I can be sure they will fit where I want to put them. I was told that the originals can no longer be had and I would have to "modify" the ones I can get to make them look like the ones sold in the 60s.

I used a pair of standard dry cell batteries the same as those used to power pedestrian buggies as used by the elderly and infirm.
These are generally all black and as they are dry cell, have no caps. However, being dry cell also means no acid, which has to be a good thing. I masked off the top and spray painted the main case white. I then made up some labels in MS Publisher and printed them onto some Avery vinyl labels. If you PM me your email address, I'll send you the image file so that you can print some yourself. The final requirement was the caps. I used the tops and threaded necks from soft drinks bottles. Cut the neck off right beneath the strengthening ring and sand it down smooth and flat, this provides a nice flat surface for the glue and then paint them black. If you get the right drink brand, the caps are already orange, or you can paint them whatever colour you want. I left a gap between my caps, which meant I only had room for 5 on each battery, but 6 is possible.
