Fuel Gauge - Which way

Smiths Fuel gauge for 427 cars - Nisonger is showing them as a window type, bottom pivot. CSXinfo pictures, for the most part are showing them as full face, top pivot.

The Comp cars didn't have a fuel level but had a fuel pressure. Don't know what they did for the conversion of S/C units.

Which is correct? Top or bottom pivot, windowed for full face? Were these used on any other vehicles (MG, Austin, Triumph) or were they solely AC?

Thanks

Paul

Top pivot... full face

No conversion...S/C was based on Comp, which had different dash from street cars. No S/C was converted to street config.

S/C Fuel Level

Ron
For the S/C's then, does that mean the drivers just flew by the seat or how did they know when the tank was nearing empty. When I refer to conversions, I was meaning did they delete the fuel pressure gauge and substitute a level gauge?

They have a tank like a motorcycle with two different height fuel pickups. When the pressure fluctuated or dropped they switched on the electrics which picked up from the reserve to get them back to the pits or a gas station on the street. Yes the pressure just replaced the level.
