Wiper blade direction / orientation
As they say, it's all in the details.
I've seen several photos and would like to know if anyone has knowledge on how the wiper blades came on the early cars? Since the original AC cars were right hand drive I see many wiper orientations favoring that side. When Carroll started importing cars for delivery, did those cars maintain that orientation despite being converted to left hand drive? And/or when did all the cars start sporting left hand drive wiper orientation? Last question: Were street cars different from the S/C versions, or was it a CSX2xxx vs. CSX3xxx changeover? I searched several historical posts but could not find an answer on this topic. Steve |

That's what I thought and thank you for confirming same.
Who is a good source for the "right-oriented" wiper arms? Seems like most vendors just sell what is usually on replicas (i.e. parked on the driver side). |
It's the motor and the park mechanism, not the arms that determine where they land

Actually, the arms are different as well. I'm a little nutty and not looking for original, so I have mine parking pointing at each other and moving in the opposite directions

Now when these suppliers state "cranked left" or "cranked right", how do I properly interpret that with what computerworks previously stated ("blades park to the passenger side")? Is the cranked left/right as viewed from the interior or as viewed from the front of the car? It would suck to order a pair from the UK, only to receive the wrong ones. :CRY: |
Ron always speaks US, he's talking passenger side which requires cranked left arms.

So "blades parked passenger side = cranked left." Said another way, cranked meaning as viewed from the front of the car.

It's as the driver views it. Wipers park right and as the driver views the wiper.

Yeah, you're correct and I should have worded it better. In general automotive terms, right and left are described in terms of how the driver sees it.
