Fuel Pressure Gauge, March 22, 2012
We picked up an original style Stewart Warner 2 5/8” fuel pressure gauge on E Bay. We would like to have it refurbished and calibrated and don’t know who to send it to. A quick internet check revealed some possibilities: API Instruments, Bloomington, MN Bob’s Gauges, Howell, MI Emeis Electrical, Davenport, IA Nisonger Instruments, NY (Smith’s is their speciality) Williamson’s, Chester AR Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? |

Good score, I would recommend Nisonger or API. The mechanical gauges are pretty much outlawed these days because you don't want pressurised fuel in the cockpit with you as Rick points out. You need to run it through one of these Mallory FUEL PRESSURE ISOLATOR for mechanical gauges - JCWhitney
If you run a line from your log down in the tunnel and hide the isolator down there then run the line back up into the dash with the antifreeze in it. I have a neat little bracket that hides it behind the turkey pan on 427's. Don't hesitate to pull the isolator apart and make them a hideaway color, satin black, aluminum or gray. It is just a housing and a diaphragm. |
Thanks for the leads. API has two votes . . . .
Total agreement regarding the use of an isolator. Fully intend to do so. |
