The ERA boys made their own, of course. But you can find "adult car seats" of all sizes through medical supply houses, etc. They are, surprisingly, not cheap... so get your wallet out. Here's an example: Columbia Medical TheraPedic™ Small Adult Car Seat

Patrick, Those are steep prices. For that money, she can stay home, and I can send her pics:LOL:

I think one of our bedroom pillows will work :roll eyes:

Kevin, thank you for the advise. I do not have the skills to achieve your friend's same results :o

Happy Holidays, everyone.

BTW the distributor cap is on, and i did not blow up the car...

Hi Hector,

Don't underestimate yourself. With some aluminum available at Home Depot, a hack saw, file and drill with a few bits, you could do it. It is simply an extension of what is already there - just copy the hole pattern and cut it out. It will move the pedals closer. Same with a piece of wood on the gas pedal and a few screws from the back to hold it on.

If a seat cushion moves her too close to the steering wheel, this is actually a good solution.

Kevin, maybe if I can see some pics I can get motivated... you could pm them or maybe post them here? It would give me a better idea of what I need to come up with. Thanks!

Seriously, how about some very thick soled shoes specifically for driving the car. I saw a show last night, the (young woman) was bowling in 6" heels?... My wife drove mine 27 years ago the day it arrived. She said the seat was too far back (non adjustable) and their was no A/C. She hasn't driven it since :)

Hi Hector,

Sorry, as I said in my first post, this was someone displaying their car at a show - I didn't take any pictures.

Regards,

Kevin

Tutosnake 11-25-2012 04:08 PM

I missed that, Kevin. Thanks.

Rick, that's funny. What is going to happen is that I will need to get her own car... she likes the 550 Spyder replicas, and I think that may have to be my next irresponsible buy:rolleyes:

I'd like to add a couple of comments on this thread:

1) Do you realize that an original 427 Cobra's distributor cap was tan in color, not black? I don't like the MSD red either, but I just thought I'd point this out. If you do a search, there's a thread here somewhere discussing this same issue where a poster suggests a source for a tan cap. If I remember correctly, it's an Accel brand replacement cap.

2) If you decide to relocate your seat mounts in the floor, be sure that they are firmly anchored to tabs welded to the frame. Drilling four new holes in the floor is not structurally sound enough to withstand an accident if your floor is aluminum or fiberglass.

Hello there,Doug. Is it this one?
ACCEL Distributor Caps 120405 - SummitRacing.com

I was not aware of this color much less its placement on original engines... I have looked at some many pics of original car engines and have always seen black. Hence i just assume original comp and s/c cars used black.

Good piece of info, though. I guess I like black better after all.

No worries on the seat tracks. I will not be drilling any holes or welding anything on the floor of my car:eek:

Hector, here's the original thread along with Sal's link to the tan Accel 8220 Cap. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/fe-t...-question.html Even though tan may be correct, it looks bad. Remember, all our cars are fake to begin with -- you should only copy something that was "original" if you still think it looks cool today.

Tutosnake 11-26-2012 11:45 AM

Patrick! I was starting to miss your knowledge and wisdom:LOL:
Yeah, I agree with you, and that's what I wrote earlier... I'm keeping my black one:cool:
Maybe YOUR car is fake, but I drive a REAL Shelby Cobra:D:p:D:p ( I have read THAT thread somewhere else... could not help myself:roll eyes:)

I wish CC would let me post more pics, but I am SOL. Won't even load up my lower res pics from the iPhone anymore... oh well (yes, random thought)

Cheers!

Hector

As usual, Patrickt beat me to it and posted the link to the thread.

I agree, we're all driving repliCobras. Build it like you want.

But for some reason I have the need to comment on these incorrect statements when I see them. A lot of people read these and never post, taking the info as the Gospel. Call me anal. My favorite, though, is the one where all 427 Cobras had side oilers - that one just won't die.

Tutosnake 11-26-2012 07:42 PM

So Doug, did I mess up by getting a side oiler:p?

Not at all. But a center oiler or 428PI would be just as authentic.:)

ERAChas posted a very learned, well thought out, reply on this issue concluding that the 428 was the preferred engine for most of our "pretty authentic," "mostly street" Cobras. Leave the period correct SO engines for the serious racers, along with their accompanying problems, as well.

Hmmm.....

Something doesn't look quite right in the above post....

Can't put my finger on it....but I'll get to the bottoom of it. :JEKYLHYDE

I need help with this question.....

Why do hotdogs come in packages of ten but hotdog buns come in packages of eight?

3 pages on distributor caps? I knew Patrick had to be involved somehow. Maybe he found an iPad app for choosing distributor caps.

Sorry, wrong answer. You must open your mind more to new approaches. :)
