'64 MkII - washer bottle?
Is there a consensus on what type of washer bottle should be fitted to a MkII (leafspring) car (RHD UK market), and where it should be?

Dont know about Mk II, but MkIII road cars had a plastic rectangular trico washer bottle fitted about the footwell - rare as hens teeth now.
Have you checked the usual reference texts?

CSX2367 has a Ford blue plastic bag for washer fluid. I realize that RHD Cobras are likely to be different. Dave

Thanks - yes, that looks similar to the early Mustang item. UK ones I've seen in the books show either the glass Trico bottle with motor in the lid, or the Lucas one. Positions also seem to vary, which is why I wondered if there's any concensus on what might be correct. |

Hi,
Do a search here on CC under Trico bottle and you will see a plastic one,is that the one you are looking for?The lucas one I believe is part number 2SJ it is glass bottle with a 12v motor on top.

Thanks Mike, yes, I have both, but I'm wondering which would be correct for a MkII, and where it should be. I'll have a search under Trico and see if there are any pics etc. |

Have a look at page 65 of Rinsey Mills book Original AC Ace & Cobras. It pictures the engine compartment of COB6020 showing a plastic washer bottle mounted to the firewall. |

That may be the best place for it, if it doesn't interfere with the heater hose. However p.20 of Mills' 'Essential AC Cobra' shows another leafspring car with the bottle somewhere else (annoyingly you can't see where). The same applies with the photo above the one you mention in 'Original AC Ace & Cobra', which is of a presumably earlier car.

Blue plastic bag is correct, on a LHD car it is on the inside of front left fender facing the hydraulic cans.

Correct for a late CSX but not a RHD COB nor a COX. ;) IMO Ford would not have provided the bags for AC. |

I'd agree - I've never seen a plastic bag Ford type on a RHD car. Trico or Lucas generally. |

I have a photo of a Mk2 COB car that I shot in the late 70's that shows the Lucas 2SJ on the front left fender inner panel just behind the indicator relay. This is in the same location as shown in the photo of the AC289 in Rinsey Mills Original AC Ace & Cobra. I believe the green Mk2 car shown in the same book that you referenced is Nick Green's car which had the engine bay area modified to his liking. Hope this helps.

Larry,
Ned's is a coil spring car, whole different animal. ;) The leaf spring COX & COB cars begin with 60xx and coil spring COX & COB begin with 61xx |
I was thinking Ned's car was a leaf spring car. My mistake.
