Tool Kit: the BDS decal for the screwdriver
I am trying to replicate the BDS decal for the screwdriver and have found this image (not a good one but the best I could find).
Can anyone advise me as to the name of the font used in this logo. It looks like Cooper Black, but it is white with an outline. I have dimensioned/scaled the image and will replicate it as closely as possible if I can find out the font type. Anyone? Cheers Greg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...s/BDS_logo.jpg |
I have to laugh Greg... you're as bad as I am about originality!

I'm just a rank amateur at it but having fun.
And just to show how much of an amateur, I'm going to try out a paint for the handle: Rustoleum Gloss Apple Red. Nothing a little sandpaper can't correct! Or buff out! Cheers Greg |
I'm still trying to replicate the sound of aluminum when I rap the body on my NAF with my knuckles. I'll keep you posted......

Auto manufacturers are now creating exhaust sounds digitally so I'm sure someone will come up with an app for that!
Tap your i-phone as you rap your bodywork. LOL Cheers Greg |
Hi. If you search the photo gallery for csx2367 you will find some photos of my original tool kit. Included is a photo of a different style BDS screwdriver with an easier to copy sticker. Someplace I've also posted photos out of a early Draper catalog that shows alll the tools. I will post better photos on Monday. Hopefully detail enough to print stickers from. Dave

Thanks Dave. Look forward to the pics. It all helps.
Could you also post the link to the Draper catalog. Cheers Greg |

Greg, I respect your attention to detail. It keeps it fun and half of that fun is the hunt. |
Does anyone (you desktop publisher/photoshop experts here) know what the font name might be for the BDS logo?
I might try submitting it to a couple of the font search sites on the net. Cheers Greg |
BDS sticker
I uploaded two higher quality photos of an original BDS sticker under my user name. I have been unable to upload a 350k PDF file of scanned images from an original Draper catalog showing the wrenches, pliers and screwdriver, but I'll keep working on that.
The BDS sticker in the photos is on a "cabinet" style BDS screwdriver that I found at Bealieu swapmeet, luckily the sticker is in good shape and on a flat surface. The BDS sticker original on my Cobra toolkit screwdriver is scuffed and too stuck to remove for copying. I experimented with both "decal clear", and "white sticker" copy paper and the colors look way better on the white sticker paper. Dave |

WOW!!!!!! That is a great photo. I'm almost there now with a replica logo/decal.
Can you measure the size of the logo for reference purposes? Diameter of the 3 circles. Overall width across the 3 circles. Base and height of the triangle. Thanks Greg |
Would you be willing to make a zerox copy of the catalogue and mail it out to me? Be happy to compensate you.
Thanks Greg |
The 3 circles are 7/16,1/2,7/16 dia. All in inches, center one is largest.
Overall width of the 3 circles is 15/16 inch. Base of triangle 3/4". Height 11/16. The colors in the photo are accurate. I can forward the PDF of the catalog pages that matter to an email. Dave |
