How much Nick? I'm about to order some stuff from you in preparation for the Exotic Car Paddock at the Long Beach Grand Prix in April. I'd love to add this to the list.

Hi Nick. If I can get on the list I'd go for the 7/16 AF which is the same as 7/16" SAE. But if only a 3/16W is available that's OK becuase it's only for my "show' tool kit.
I'll e-mail you.
Cheers
Greg

3/16 BSW is 7/16 AF. I'm totaling up the hours on them and dividing them by the 6 I made. I hope that's a big enough batch, if not no worries the next batch will be only a few weeks out. Greg, Mike and Phil have names on the first three. I'll let you know when they're up on the site.

my427cobra 04-04-2013 06:28 PM

Yup. Close enough for hand grenades. The 7/16 AF and SAE are 0.438" while the 3/16W is 0.445"

Close enough!

Cheers
Greg

Nice Job, Greg! Would like to know more about it. Drop me a note - Mark@Sheby-Cars.com.

Good evening. Never an AF labeled wrench in any 427 Cobra as delivered ever, including 3360. Nick is being too nice. You can even order brand new AF Elora 100 wrench sets today. Even with a clip. They are a little off, but who would know.

mickmate 11-03-2013 06:59 PM

I just pointed out those two sizes are the same or close enough for an unlabelled box spanner. Note they are spanners not wrenches ;-)

Hi Patty442. As I said earlier in this thread:

"The historical experts on the forum have ventured the opinion that different sets may have been supplied over the span of Cobra production.

289 cars had Whitworth/British Standard and later 427 cars may have come with AF sizes.

Don't know for sure. I copied my kit after the Bruce Canepa restoration of CSX3360."

Lots of "mays" there as there dosen't seem to be a definative answer.

Hard to tell from the pics of 3360's tool kit what sizes they are.

But it sounds like you're saying the wrenches may be/should be Elora 100 marked in BS and BW sizes with "Made in W. Germany". Right?

Cheers
Greg
