How is the handbrake boot fastened in place?

I've looked in all my Cobra reference books and countless pics in this forum to see the handbrake boot, but it is most often hidden by the seat.

Can anyone tell me how the leather handbrake boot in the original Cobras is fastened in place?

Snaps? Carpet pile is probably too deep.

Screws and finishing washers?

Glued to the carpet? Messy.

Looking forward to your inputs.

Cheers
Greg

Here is a pic of my handbrake and a pic of my handbrake boot.

When I ripped my old carpet out, the "wings" of the handbrake boot were just tucked under the carpet and sort of trapped in place. But it kept working itself loose and flopped around.

No handbrake boot that I've seen on any real ones.

Hi Nick. Well, did the carpet cover the handbrake ratchet mechanism if there was no boot?

No the park brake ratchet and pawl are open, you don't see them as they are right between the tunnel and the seat.

Greg, for what it's worth, I got tired of tucking in the boot every time I SAW it. There did not seem to have been a fastening system worth a fig. So, one day I started looking at pics of original cars, and realized LIKE NICK SAYS none of those original cars had boots. I went to my car, yanked the boot out, and never looked back. It looks so much better without it, and that headache is gone:cool:
