Cobra 427 Street roadster plug wires

Can anyone tell me what the correct plug wires would be for the 1965/1966 Cobra 427 Street roadster.

Did the plug boots and dist cap boots have the Ford Oval molded into them?

What were the inked markings on the wires?

Were they solid core or radio suppression?

Who has them/where can I buy them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Greg

I would be interested in knowing this too. As noted in another post, the recent episode of Chasing Classic Cars showed two different plug wires when they were working on that BRG street 427.

Would that be this set: 1965-1970 Spark Plug Wire Set - Reproduction - With Steel Core & Correct Rust-Colored Boot On #6 Plug Wire - 390, 427 & 428 V8 - Ford - MAC's Antique Auto Parts

The wires posted from Mac's are close but not totally correct. The wires are date coded and the ones they sell are generic.

There are better sets available, if you correct boots and date codes try Marti Auto Works Marti Auto Works - SPW-17 - SPARK PLUG WIRE SET - Steel Core.

Mac's wires are sold by most Mustang vendors and come from Alloy Metal Products who used to produce parts for my business.

Sent an e-mail off to Eric at Marti Auto Works to get more info.

Here's what I've learned from Marti Auto Works:
The SPW-17 has no date codes or Ford part number (such as C5xx etc).
The plug boots have the Ford oval molded on them (but not the dist caps).
The plug wires are ink printed with "SX" and cyl number.
The wires are steel core.

Could you use those wires with an MSD system (even though that's not a correct ignition)?

Hi lippy. Sorry - don't know.

I am a Pertronix user and I'm using their plain black (no markings), carbon core wires.

I guess I'll ask Pertronix if their Ignitor module will work with steel core wire.

Thanks, but don't go to any trouble. I'll ask Brent, he'll know.

Side note

I believe the comp cars used Packard SS550 orange wires....
