cobra pedel box and pedals close to footbox
Hi can someone help please. i have a hitch ,converted to rhd and have finally made some rhd footboxes. i have installed the pedals and i am using wilwood master cylinders with 1.4inch stroke, not sure if this is too long. when all assembled and no fluid in the system the pedal hits the front of the footbox?
the pedals are 265mm long from centre to centre 10 1/2 inchs. How far forward do the pedals lean off upright. as to get this to work they will need to be inclined into the car . i amy be missing something dead simple here.? What is the normal pedal ratio on the pedals? i was thinking my pedals may be an inch too long? |
What is the piston diameter of your master cylinder? That will probably provide more usefull information than just the throw.
For what it's worth, my ERA pedal arm appears to be about 10 inches from center of the bearing shaft to attachment to the pedal. It's difficult to get exact measurement installed. The other component is the arm length to the master cylinder pedal rod. I would have to get under the car to measure that. The pedal rests about 7 inches from the end of the foot box and the stroke to a hard pedal uses about half of that. Without brake fluid in the system my pedal would probably hit the end of the footbox also unless it hits the edge of the floor penetration first. I'm not sure that means anything. Also, unlike a clutch master cylinder, the brake master may have up to 1.4 inch max stroke but you will probably have a hard brake pedal at something much less than that. It would depend on your brake caliper components. |

master cylinders are 0.7 front and 0.75 rear. are your pedals inclined away from the pedal box? the pedal measurement seem the same as mine. |
In the end you should do a pressure test to be sure you are close to the required pressure to make the brakes work as advertised. We had to move the pivot point of the balance beam up higher on the pedal (running dual masters) to get the 1000+psi with comfortable pedal pressure. Once we reached the pressure Wilwood recommended the brakes are incredible.

I know one of the ERA brake masters is a 3/4 inch. I think the rear is a 5/8 inch from memory. It's not easy to tell but it looks like my brake pedal lever is pretty much vertical and the clutch pedal is leaning slightly forward with the pedal a little in front of the brake pedal. But I haven't finalized my pedal and seat adjustments yet. Hope this helps.
