I'll stop by Home Depot (it's on my way) after work tomorrow and check on the part no. and manufacturer of what I use. Dan |
That beveled plumbing gasket looks a lot like the rubber seal on an American Standard commercial urinal. Fits on a brass casting that's threaded to the tail pipe on the wall and bolts to the toilet.
Sorry for the unorthodox description! Aren't you glad to know this! Urinal Repair - American Standard - Kohler - Plugs - Gaskets - Seals - Strainers - Spuds - Flanges - Screens Scroll down to gasket #8138. Any local commercial plumbing supply place will have one you can check out. Larry |
Greg - what I used from Home Depot is a Flush Valve Shank Washer by Fluidmaster, Part 89170. It's in a green and red blister pack. Here it was in the group of flush valve and toilet bowl valves parts.
I think I put a thin bead of 3M strip caulk around the pipe where it came through the body to seal it tight and that helped hold the washer in place against the body curve. If you can't find one there let me know and I'll send you one. They are only a couple bucks. Dan |
Thanks Dan. I'm off to Home Depot.
Cheers Greg |
Greg, when you get it, measure the ID and OD so i can compare it to what i have here.
thanks, fred |
Hi Fred. Going to Home Depot Friday. I'll let you know the measurements.
Cheers Greg |

Hi Fred. Bought a couple of seals at Home Depot as advised by Dan:
3.25" OD x 2.375" ID x 0.375 HT tapered on the outside . Cheers Greg |
thanks, those are smaller than what i have here.
whats the application of those? american standard? |
Hi Fred. As Dan described, at Home Depot, red and green package labelled "Fluidmaster Flush Valve Shank Washer" part number 89170. The packaging does not state a specific application of any kind (eg: AmericanStandard) on the package.
I'll post an image of the package later. Cheers Greg |

Fits nice I think:
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...umbs/00318.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...umbs/00415.JPG That's without any sealant to hold it in place. Although it fits well to the contour, I'll probably put a little sealant on the bottom and around the ID to prevent water from leaking into the trunk area. Cheers Greg |
