Hey I don't see the rolled tool bag! Come on!! Geez!;)

It looks awesome! I like that you've correctly painted the trunk as opposed to bright polished or brushed aluminum I see so often. Nice job!

Weather strip doesn't go all the way around. It ends on either side of the latch.

OK, should stop either side of the latch bracket visible in the photo? What was the reason for that?

As to the tool bag, I wasn't including the loose parts just yet - kinda a few other priorities to come first (like seats, interior trim, radiator and coolant hoses etc.)!! I'm trying to go for the London dealer showroom look, then I can spend a few years putting some honest patina on it.

Educated guess, ventilation. The seals were installed haphazardly and rarely if ever evenly spaced end gap wise. The amount of adhesive used ranged from almost enough to way too much. If the gap is perfectly centered then AC Cars probably didn't do it based on my observations of original paint cars.

I would guess it also served to allow any water that made it to the 'inside' of the weather strip to drain out.
Much as the missing section in front did the same... along with the two drain holes ;-)

Thanks Dan, seems likely. That, or they just couldn't be bothered to stick the stuff at the bottom where water couldn't travel uphill (in theory - we all know it can).
Reminds me of my '68 fastback Mustang GT restoration. I was told it was obviously not original as the stick-on reflective 'C' stripes lined up perfectly.

OK, I'll bite - which missing section in front? Do you mean the bonnet/hood seal? And where were the drain holes - front two corners? -that's the bit that always dribbles more water when I dry the car after washing it...

After a multi day tour (including days in the rain) I will find water and road grit all over the boot compartment and down in the spare tire well.

The coachwork lip under the perimeter of the bonnet has weep holes drilled in the low front corners to let water escape. The drains often get covered with new seal strip after people repaint their cars.

Here again, if the gap in the seal (forward straight section) is micrometer measured perfectly centered I would not believe AC Cars installed it.

Yes, and yes ;)

OK - but which bit of the front seal should be missing? Surely not right at the front? I'd guess rear edge of the hood, maybe 9" or so? To allow some venting from underbonnet?

Just re-read Dan's response - so there shouldn't be seal at the two front corners, correct? Just an inch or two each side?

AC was not consistent at the stopping points. With all the fine details you want to copy it would be good to buy some of the 1963-64 magazines with new Cobra road tests in them. Lots of pictures of Cobras being made from a couple tubes up to performance road tests were published. The engine bay and cockpit pictures are super sources of details.

Yes, the front between the hinges. As Dan suggests, take a look at some period photos.
The seal is in the front corners, it just should not cover the holes.
