289 trans mount

Can anyone tell me about transmission mount brackets for leafspring 289s? I understand the 'T-bird' type, with a clamp underneath, was used in early cars. Did AC/Shelby ever change to the more modern 'Mustang' style mount, with bonded threads, and if so when?
As I've gone to the trouble of using a 5-bolt 289 (although toploader rather than T10), I'm planning on going to the early type with Nick's excellent assistance. Just wondered if the later type was ever used in period.

Yes, I've got my angle grinder plugged in and revved up ready to take out the modern bracket. I might juuuust wait until I have the replacement mount before I do the deed though...

Just a thought - will the Tbird mount work OK with a toploader? I'm assuming they're pretty much the same as the T10.

Good question, I only have the T10 to compare to.

Well, that mount position looks very similar to the toploaders (Sunbeam Tiger 'box). Thanks Jeff.

Yes, it will. The trans pad spacing is the same.
