Cobra heaters
Sorry, heaters again: I have been told this is a Mk3 or Mk4 heater. Anybody seen anything like this in a genuine Cobra?
I know the 'MkII' arrangement should sit with the motor at the base (i.e. through 90° from that shown), but this heater box is too wide to sit between bulkhead and downtubes unless mounted as shown.

Thanks,

Thanks Nick - does that make it a MkIII (coilspring 289) heater too?
Is it mounted in the correct orientation?

Yes it's the heater unit used in 427 street cars and it is mounted in the correct location and orientation. The trap doors are sprung shut to supply the air to the defrost ducts or opened to allow it into the cockpit as well as the ducts. The air is recirculated in the car as it's taken in from the gap made by the brackets holding it off the firewall.

Brings back early memories, heater was so crappy it would not even defrost my windshield in rather mild California weather. I used to carry a towel to wipe the inside of the windshield and side curtains. Wipers were even worse but who cares it was fast.
