I wonder about the original BDS screwdriver used in the Cobra. The seller wants a lot for this one for sure. Bert Draper and Son (BDS) made their own tools but also imported tools from other manufacturers. The engineers screwdriver used in the Cobra was made in Italy and sold under the name 'BDS' but it looks to me that they didn't make it. I wonder who the company was in Italy that made it too begin with. Anyone know about Italian tool company's?

Personally I wonder if these were not used in other product packs. Contractor supply, plumbing, etc? Same goes for the Cobra style jacks that pop up from time to time. I realize the top perch is specific for the AC/ACE/Cobra, but what other cars from that era did these come on?

Yeah, I wondered the same thing. Looking around at other auto tool kits, I have not seen that particular screwdriver. Of course as you point out, it could have been used in trades and not just auto tool kits.

The old red Draper screwdriver - I've lost count of the number of these I've seen in the typical chippie's* toolbox over the years. Not so common now they all use those electric ones and cross-head screws, but I'll keep an eye out. They were a very common standard British tool. My Grandad had one, and my Dad probably still has somewhere. They may not be quite the same, but I don't remember much variation.

The Italian company that made these screwdrivers that Draper sold under their own brand also made screwdrivers that were used in Alfa Romeos of the the same era. However, those screwdrivers were much smaller. I have not yet discovered the actual Italian manufacturer, but hope do so soon.

I've been looking into the same thing Jim. So far I haven't been able to find the manufacturer either. I emailed Tony Randazzo, who sells a lot of tools for Ferrari but he didn't know either. I was thinking of posting a question on one of the Ferrari forums and see what they said.
