Correct (original) colour for Toploader?

What is the correct colour for a Toploader?
I've seen Toploaders in a number of colours that look period correct (to my uninformed eye), but which colour did they leave the factory with in the '60s?
Cheers,
Glen

Nekkid....they were not painted. The top cover was bare, stamped steel and the case was the "as cast" iron. Ford was not about to spend money gilding the pig no one could see.

Oh well, if I just pick what I think looks period-correct, nobody can say that it's the wrong colour paint ;)
Cheers,
Glen

When I had my restoration business we would use Seymour "Cast Blast" on the case and their "Stainless Steel" paint on the cover/hardware and it looked pretty good plus it prevented rust.

And if you can't find "Seymour", Eastwood carries the same things in a relable.

There are also several "bare metal" preservative finishes (clear) out now for restorers but I haven't tried any of them.

Well, technically you can't be wrong with the colour... Cobras had T10s...

I smoothed my case and painted it titanium color. I just couldn't leave well enough alone.
