Csx 2000
The cover story of this month's Classic Motorsports magazine is a brief driving impression of the first Cobra:

They didn't really wring it out in deference to its age and historical significance but I always enjoy reading about these early narrow-tired small-block cars like this one and the dirtbag Cobra. Probably not enough new in the article for most of you, but worth a quick read if you're browsing the magazine rack.

Great car.
Saw it at the August Laguna races a few years ago when they honored Shelby.
Actually touched it!

I assume that it's the car that Ol Shel used to snooker the enthusiast mags with. Given a totally massaged 260, Road and Track ran a 12.2 quarter at 112 mph, which was other worldly in 1962. Production 289 Cobras struggled to run low 13s at a hair over 100. What a salesman was our hero!

When it was at the Vegas race track, I was the jerkoff that slide under the rope and sat in it, could not take a pic, but it was a thrill, then I bought a hat and made it a day...

It's on permanent display at Shelby American HQ in Vegas. Go on the guided tour and they tell the story, or go when noone is there and get good pics (from behind the rope) with noone else in the field of view.
