Reason for color combination Wimbledon White Guardsman Blue

Why did the GT350R Mustang (or CSX2281) get painted in Wimbledon White with twin, Guardsman Blue stripes?
Does there be any reason back to the area where nations had their own color combination or is it more related to the Ford color combination.

The 427SC did have the same color combination the opposite way and I’m sure there was a reason for that as well.

Sorry to bother with this basic question.

White with blue stripes or blue with white stripes are the American racing colors for international competition. Take a look at Cunninghams, Scarabs etc. Even the Austin-Healey 100S was generally painted white over Lobelia Blue as it was mostly sold as an American race car.

Love that color on a Cobra. Really liked it on my ERA - easy to keep clean, too! Well, technically my car had a brighter white than WW, and the blue was a Chevy blue, but close enough! (:

Just a side note but 2281 didn't have blue stripes when new. It was white only. The stripes were added by Tom Kirkham when it's then red color was stripped off and the car returned to it's original white color. It's a beautiful car and I fell in love with it when I saw it sitting at Phoenix International Raceway.

This is why: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._racing_colors

As later cars did not have an exposed chassis, Cunningham used the blue "chassis" color as stripes. Shelby's colors were an homage to the Cunningham team livery.

Thanks for the details.:)

I was aware of the Bugatti’s (have seen a lot of them in France), but not about the Cunningham detail.
Interesting (according to Wikipedia) the American color was RED and got taken by the Italians in the 20’s and white was the color of the German cars.
And this should have been an official requirement for FIA races.

But why are the 289 FIA cars Viking Blue and not white? Was this only a F1 rule?
And did thy take the color combination Wimbledon White Guardsman Blue as this where default Ford colors? (Car got ordered in W-White and “only” the stripes had to be added)

The American colors were white with blue stripes OR blue with white stripes.
Take a look at Lance Reventlow's Scarabs in sports racing and F1:
