Correct Boot / Trunk Handle
 
OK - So I was looking to buy a nice NOS Wilmot Breeden T handle for my Cobra Replica and noticed that there were two different versions. One with mounting hole spacing of about 37MM (1.5") and the other had spacing of about 44MM (1.75"). Most handles available for sale are of the 1.75" variant but when I went to the Europa and Holden UK sites, the Cobra specific handles they sell have center-to-center spacing of 1.5 inches: Holden P/N 060.002 / Europa P/N C3LS. Jeff Gagnon was nice enough to measure a couple of original CSX2xxx cars and the spacing was 1.75" which would contradict this.

Before I pull the trigger on a handle, just looking to get final confirmation on the correct mounting hole spacing.

While I am at it, does anyone have a picture of an original trunk / boot key and was it the same key that was used in the ignition? I have found a source with a good supply of original style Wilmot Breeden / Union keys with all of the different key head styles and most of the key codes:

Sorry to hijack your question Kevin but I am looking for a Union FP-701 key. If your friend has one, I'd sure be interested!

CSX2001 through CSX2200 used Lucas ignition switches.
I have just a few pictures of unrestored cars with ignition key shown but what I see is the round head style.


CSX2201 through CSX2589 used 1964 Ford ignition switches.


427 Cobras used Lucas switches.

I have measures off a Kirk 289, a rebodied 289 and a CSX4000 which all have them at 44mm (1.73). Kiwi will make sure you have the right stuff !

The general rule for British cars of the fifties and sixties was one key for the locks (in this case, glovebox and boot) and another key for the ignition. So two in all, ignition key usually with round head and door key usually with 'rectangular' head. Some exceptions to this, no doubt, but that's how they usually came irrespective of manufacturer.
